I've been a member of gog.com for quite some time now, but I rarely ever post. And, I'm sure you guys get this question often....but I want some advice as to which game to get tonight.

Anachronox
Crusader: No Remorse
Syndicate

Here's the details, my mother in law is coming over for the weekend. So, I'll have some time to play tonight and tomorrow night because I'd rather not be in some of those conversations with my wife. I don't really want to get invested in a long story, so I'm a little unsure about Anachronox, but I'll give it a go if it's worth it. Plus, I'm in a sci-fi mood tonight.

Out of those three games, the only one I played (when I was a kid and didn't really know how to ) was Syndicate.

Here's the details, my mother in law is coming over for the weekend. So, I'll have some time to play tonight and tomorrow night because I'd rather not be in some of those conversations with my wife. I don't really want to get invested in a long story, so I'm a little unsure about Anachronox, but I'll give it a go if it's worth it. Plus, I'm in a sci-fi mood tonight.

Out of those three games, the only one I played (when I was a kid and didn't really know how to ) was Syndicate.
Buy Syndicate. The other 2 suck if you don't play them regularly beginning-end.

I dunno. Ask the guys at GoG. This here's GOG.

Anyway, The Guild is the best game ever made. There's no point in buying Anachronox, Crusader or Syndicate because neither one is The Guild.

Syndicate is great, but I have to say that the last time I played it, it felt incredibly dated to me. Nonetheless, to pound away at it for 2 days would probably be some fun.

If you'd like some unsolicited sci-fi recommendations:
If you haven't played Freespace or Freespace 2, those are some epic sci-fis. Great stories and great combat. Need a flight stick, though.

Wing Commander is on sale, but I haven't played that one. Nonetheless, I hear it's great.

Maybe second best. Best one is Sacrifice:P looks like a nice game, i'll put it on my wishlist.

Great, I just found my sidewinder 2 joystick from back when I played Mechwarrior 4.

I've not played any of those, but No Remorse and Syndicate are the two I'm most likely to purchase in the near future, so I can't offer much in that respect. I do offer a bit of solidarity however, my mother in law came to stay with us last weekend, all last weekend, a 3 day weekend that I was really looking forward to until I overheard my wife telling the kids "Hurry up and get your rooms clean because Grandma will be here soon." Now considering that my mother in law live about 8 hours away I'm pretty sure my wife knew well before that moment that her mom was coming for a visit. The subsequent converstion went a little something like:

Did I just hear you say that your mother is coming out?

Oh yes! We planned it 3 months ago, didn't I tell you?

No, but thats okay. When she gets here I'll go be Not-Good-Enough-For-You in the computer room.

Did I marry your wife's sister?

Yeah, I'm pretty much banished to the computer room after dinner. They don't say anything bad or anything, but if I stick around to watch TV or something, they'll just sit there and not say a word. Or, I get dirty looks..

Man, I am really torn between the three games. Syndicate is the older game, so it's a little dated. Anachronox has a deep story that I probably don't want to get really into until I finish some of my other games.

So, it looks like it will be Crusader then, until I hear something against it.

Be aware that the controls are complicated, to say the least, but once you master them, the game is absolutely fantastic.

Anachronox is a no-go, sadly. It is a very great game, but it is easy to get lost in the story if you don't play it from cover to cover. Both remaining games are awesome and really should be in the (digital) library of any distinguished gamer. (Same goes for The Guild, btw, but leave that for when you are in a medieval mood). So just chose if you rather want action or action-strategy. Syndicate is from the gameplay rather similar to Diablo with less looting (surprisingly enough) and crusader is a "2d isometric FPS".

With all games you can't really go "wrong", so don't give it to much thought and go blasting!
