Regarding the story I wouldn't say it's very original, (I think the best Wadjeteye story is Gemini Rue) but the writing is good and it is an enjoyable and clever game.

Austrobogulator: I really enjoyed the game and its atmosphere/style. Also, it's probably best not to compare it with other Wadjet Eye games, since they're mostly developed by different people.

Anyway, it's definitely worth picking up if you like sci-fi and adventure games (if you don't, then this is a bad thread to be in...)
You say that as if point-and-click adventure fans are a very touchy bunch......and I will stop there.

Something that hasn't been mentioned yet is Hector, Badge of Carnage. If you aren't squeamish and easily grossed out or offended, you can get a good chuckle out of its British black humour. It consists of three parts which are comparatively short on their own and it's more focused on the jokes and puzzles than on an epic story-telling experience, but IMO it's a quality adevnture and it can be great fun.

Personally I can't recommend the Telltale version with SecuRom activation though (the launcher wouldn't run properly on my Win7 offline netbook and prevented me from playing it even though the game was already activated and working). A DRM-free version has been available in Indie Royale's Oktoberfest bundle, but it's probably hard to get a hold of now. Depending on your preferences, maybe you could also get it from Steam in a sale (still online activation, but probably more reliable than Telltale's own).

Wouldn't the Desura one be the same as the IR version? http://www.desura.com/games/hector-badge-of-carnage

Steam will likely have it higher discounted during the xmas sale though.

True, I didn't think of that. But it looks like you can't buy it from Desura, only download if you already got it from IR, at least on my end (it tells me the game is an "invite only release" when I'm not logged in).

Btw, I noticed Sam & Max The Devil's Playhouse is also a invite only on Desura. Does that mean they retroactively added a DRM-free version of it? I thought they only gave out Steam keys for that.

Funny, I have the option to buy a Gift from Desura. Maybe that counts as an Invite :)

I just played Deponia demo. It was one of the best experiences in a long time. This game is just beautiful, fun and clever.

So, if you are an adventure games fan, you may try the demo by yourself, but from what I saw, it's a great game.

I will definitely buy it when I am able to afford it.

Not found in GOG (yet?) but currently I'm playing this indie mystery game: Shadows On The Vatican - Act I: Greed, which is episode 1 of 4, and soon will be available Act II. It involves the story of an ex-priest, some dark secrets with religion and the Vatican... etc, in a very intriguing way, and well written.

You can find it on , or from its [url=http://www.shadowsonthevatican.com/]homepage. But if you want to get it cheap, hurry to get it from Bundle In A Box for $1, and for above the average (like $2.95) you can get Act II when it's out. Both redeemable on Desura and DRM-Free direct download.

And if you like it, please vote for it on Steam Greenlight.

Anyone remember how in the old Lucasgames adventures like Indy 3 there was a "What is" button, with no other functionality than finding out where the hotspots were? I think you couldn't even spot them by moving the mouse over them, if you didn't activate "What is" first ... :D
