Andy_Panthro: Try Ben There, Dan That.

It's also free!

I will try it later since it's free. Thanks for the link.

Ric1987: Dreamfall was good, played that on the Xbox.

I thought The Longest Journey here on GOG was Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, will take a close look now.
Dreamfall is sequel to The Longest Journey.

The Longest Journey on GOG is the first game in the series, Dreamfall: The Longest Journey is the second.

Ric1987: Yep, avoiding Sierra now, though Police Quest seems kind of interesting.
avatar
Arteveld: That one is especially hard, sometimes it's book a guy by the book or game over.
Now, i may be weird, but i consider Sierra adventure games as the pinnacle of the genre, when games were entertainment that required a lot from the player. And the death scenes in some were hilarious. Anyhow, if You save OFTEN and play it wisely, not just clicking on everything, You might just enjoy it. And PQ has a neat story.

[edit]
Buuut i'd leave it for a day when You find a need for something hard [no pun intended].
Have you played The Colonel's Bequest? I beat that one. How would you compare Police Quest to it?

Huh, got me there! This is one of those Sierra games i did not have the pleasure to finish. I've played it for a few minutes only. I don't even remember why i didn't play further, I only remember the interface wasn't like the AGI/SCI ones, but somewhere in between.

Anyhow, the SCI versions tend to be a bit easier, being able to control the character with the mouse, and use icons for actions really helps. With the AGI games You had more actions to do [like 'calibrate the gun' in PQ2], with SCI games such actions weren't required anymore, since You were limited to the icons, no fancy one time verbs.
Still, they are harder than the average.
Hopefully someone else can shed a light on Laura Bow 1.

[edit]
Oh wait, i see from the movies now, the engine is similar to the one from Space Quest 3, and You die in Laura Bow 1 too. So, as i can only estimate, i'd say PQ1 and PQ3 will have a more user friendly interface, making the game easier, but with many more places to get shot/driven over/being beaten to death/failing a booking resulting in death of someone, etc

Bottom line:
If You've survived a Sierra game in the past, and You didn't hate it, i'd say, go ahead.

Agatha Christie: Murder on the Orient Express
http://www.mobygames.com/game/agatha-christie-murder-on-the-orient-express

When it comes to adventure games I am a big noob, but I managed to solve about 95% of that game without resorting to walkthrough, only missing that puzzle part on ham radio (I did not even know what the heck a ham radio is).

But it is not available on GoG.com yet.

Well $7 isn't much of a loss if I do get lost in them. Maybe I will try.

Damn, i've edited my message too late. ;P
I guess You won't be VERY angry at me, if it doesn't suit You. Cool thing about PQ, policeman played it as part of experimental training somewhere in the USA. Nothing fancy, just something like "this is how streets kinda look like".

I've read the novel so I don't think the game would interest me much since I remember it pretty well.

If I buy it and it doesn't I will curse your name until the day I die! XD

It took me some time and a lot of deaths but I did have fun playing Laura Bow. I would be playing that instead of doing what I should've been doing in computer class. The two games I remember having a really time with were King's Quest and Quest For Glory but I might have been less patient then.

Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors and Ghost Trick are both fairly easy, but worth playing.

I can handle one more hex..i think. ;)

While i didn't play KQ much, didn't like the setting really, i did love QfG1 [finished it with all three classes even!] i guess the most irritating parts were the ones where Your stats really sucked, and You had to throw a million rocks at the door to the hermit, so he'd let You in [climbing=0 is fun...], and perhaps the timed ones, where You had just 2 seconds to respond [thieves guild].
I hope You're still patient. When it comes to games, patience is the virtue of youth. Later on You get spoiled with faster CPUs, and easier games, a return to the die-a-hundred-times-to-get-it-right may be frustrating.

Found LB1:The Colonel's Bequest! Gonna try it out again.;)

An option to just point out the killer would be fun. *intro* Hercule enters "oh boys, let's wrap this up, you, you, you....". *outro*
Oh, and it fits the "easy adventure game" topic!:)

This is pretty interesting when it comes to Sierra, spoilers are hidden. Though it's a slow moving work in progress.

I don't even know what an easy adventure game is. Or a hard one. Difficulty is irrelevant to me since I finished The Secret of Monkey Island when I was 6.

My DS broke a year ago so I can't play those. Will be interested when I get a 3DS, especially 999.

I should try the free remakes of the Quest for Glory games. I think they're still around.
Nice, I found LB1 a while back but couldn't get it to work on my system.

That would be awesome if you could do that. XD

Nice link there. I wonder if GOG will ever get the Leisure Suit Larry games.

I'm by no means an expert on adventure games, but have you considered any of the Telltale games? Like the new Sam & Max, Tales of Monkey Island, Homestar Runner, etc.

But I still had to use tutorials at times because I'm really bad at adventure
