So the big Activision sale is happening on Steam...

I noticed Bloodlines is going for $14.99, but the great part is Bloodlines has been on and off sale at that price point for quite some time... I would happily pay that here on GOG.com, heck I'm sure they could sell it for the base $19.99 (i know i would still pay)

So seeing the mighty Acti is ready to let that title go so often for that much, is this a hint they might allow it here? I would love nothing more then to sink my teeth into that game after the gog treatment :)

I see this game on Steam almost everyday.

Actually, I've been thinking, it will probably never happen, but Activision should sell the distribution/patching/source-code rights of Bloodlines to Valve. Think about it, the game uses the Source engine and it's buggy as hell, so what way to "fix" it than giving it to guys who know the Source engine and its code-base better than anyone alive. Hmmm, maybe I heard it wrong.

Erm ... that would be like SEGA selling Aliens: Colonal Marines to Microsoft because it was programmed in C++.

The bugs in Vampire: Bloodlines were not engine related as far as I remember. Also, do you really know whether anybody at Valve still knows the intricacies of such an old and outdated version of their engine?

They were related both to scripting errors and the engine. Many of Bloodlines problems did stem from the fact that it essentially was running on an Alpha on Source, with many features such as the AI, graphical features only partially implemented at release date. So more than just bugs, getting Bloodlines on the most updated version of the Source engine would go very far towards making it a better game.

Jesus, Activision's pricing. They have a fucking weird idea about 'special deals'. Most of those games have been half those prices at retail for some time now.

Ah, I remember that. On release, many bugs were indeed attributed to having to work with an unfinished version of the engine. On the other hand, I made 2 complete and 2 more partial playthroughs on patched/modded installations, and I don't remember running into engine bugs.

That's what makes these deals special. ;)

Side note, I got Vampire: Bloodlines from retail for 2.50€ a couple of years ago ... :)
