There are plenty of people here who don't find achievements important or necessary for enjoyment of a game (or games) . GOG has plenty of higher priorities at the moment me thinks.....
If your talking about internal game achievements , you need to take it up with the dev's in general....

I kept getting achievements in Shiva. An adventure game with a realisticy adulty kinda story that I was quite getting into and then "popup - stupidly named achievement". Very immersion breaking.
I also think that achievements are senseless. You unlock a small picture saying you finished the tutorial. How amazing.
Achievements are only there to compare with the community who has the longest e-penis.
Not a good idea for GOG and it's customers... GOG should be spending their time making their games run better on modern systems and bringing new games to their catalog(and improving this forum). And I love achievements...

This.
I actually deem achievements as a reason for not buying a game...

Dig the new, errr newest avatar. He's cute. :D

Oh and regarding the topic I get enough reminders from the games themselves about futility, I don't need it here. :P In fact that's why I quite playing Army Men RTS; whenever you finish a mission it reminds you of everything you failed to do to get a medal or unlock content.

And some find them detrimental.

I'd say they're mostly annoying in story-based games. In score-based games I actually find they contribute to the experience.
Contrary many others here, I actually think that achievements have their place in gaming despite not having any personal interest in them, but I'd still oppose some kind of GOG intervention on the matter. If devs want to incorporate this feature into their games, more power to them :)
No thanks.
Some games include internal achievement handling (e.g. Risen); every developer could do this if they wanted to.
Achievements are made to virtually increase the time you play the game. They add nothing ingame (missions, weapons, skills...), just the satisfaction to complete all the challenges and to find/collect/kill things that other players didn't.

It's just an illusion, GOG doesn't have to lose it's time and meanings with them !

This is a very anti commercialism forum. Very anti steam. No one is going to want achievements. I'll easily admit I have had some fun trying to get some on xbox but that is just me.
