Any chance of an achievements system added to the games of gog.com? It seems to be the latest trend and I've been suckered in. PSN and XBL have these and I believe steam as well.

Sorry if this has already been posted/requested, I did a search and nothing turned up.
You can consider each purchase an achievement and your game shelf to be your gamerscore. :P

Anything else would require a lot of programming and GOG want the games to be sold as is.
Wouldn't that require an online verification system, which many would view as a form of DRM ...

Quite possibly my favourite post of the day.

I agree with the sentiment - if it ain't broke, don't fix it, so don't muck about with good old games.
good arguments, especially the online verification point... arm twisted, mind changed.
Here you go. ;)

Ah, but how many gamerscore points is it worth? :P
I lol'd.
achievements are a sword with two edges:

- its nice to get points or trophies or whatever, collecting things is nice, even if they dont mean anything
- you want to take street fighter 4 with all unlocked fighters to your friend? bad luck, because archievements are more important than enjoying the actual game, so your save is copy protected

Copy protected saves make me want to murder people. They are the worst thing that has come of this whole achievements thing, and are utterly loathesome. At least Sony lets you make cloud backups of copy protected saves, even if it is late and weirdly limited.
Hahahahahahahaha, no.

To add achievements they'd need to basically rewrite all the games.

Thats the base one. There is going to be one worth 599gs, 999gs and some hidden ones for sale bundles. xD

And to do that they'd need game source code they don't have or for many games here, no longer exists.

And I am against the idea too even if it were possible.

This. GOG having access to the source code of old games was a common misconception of the beta days and since it was proved false. GOG staff has already confirmed in a Q&A video that they have NEVER received the source code of a game they sell (unless it has been made open source) so the chance of adding achievements is zero.
