I don't know how good it is going to be but Futuremark is making a tower defence game which looks really interesting.

I'm also going to throw my hat in towards GemCraft Labyrinth, I find it more enjoyable than most of the mass-market TDs.

That said, I'mma have to look at Immortal Defense.
I must add Defender's Quest here.

An awesome, addictive, mix of Tower Defense and RPG.

The whole Adobe Air thing kind of turned me off, is this really a Flash game?

Hm... I dunno. It doesn't seem to be a flash game, but I could be wrong. It didn't ask me to install anything (but I already had adobe air for the GOG Downloader, I believe).

orcishgamer: Okay, so I've been on a bit of a kick with these lately. I played Plants vs. Zombies and Crystal Defenders. I have the gold box of Zombie Pirates sitting here beside me for when I get a free moment. What do you guys think are the best?

Note: I fully intend to pick up all of the Gratuitous Space Battles stuff at some point.
Do try Sanctum, that game is absolutely brilliant. Well worth the money.
Cursed Treasure was fun too

and i like Defence Grid especially after it was so cheap at the las tsteam sale

not to forget: Flash Element TD 2 and Vector TD

Hey guys! This is Lars Doucet, one of the developer for Defender's Quest.

I can confirm the game IS programmed in actionscript, the downloadable version is Adobe AIR. We use the flixel engine, however, so we achieve a lot higher framerate and 2D performance than you get in most flash games, so we're doing our best to beat the "flash stigma."

We did some clever Adobe AIR hacking so the downloadable version has features that any PC downloadable title should have, namely fullscreen support and native resolution switching. The browser demo version just runs under the normal flash player without any AIR features.

It runs on Mac/Windows/Linux. The downloadable demo should give you a good idea of how the full version will run on your system.

If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them!
Definitely Defense Grid (one of the few games i actively go back out of all my games on Steam (have heaps!)) & Revenge of the Titans :)
I tried the Defenders of Ardania demo yesterday, I really wanted to like it but was BORED!

Ack.

It didn't help that they'd use the same annoying voice actor as Majesty 2 (think a bad Sean Connery) and then I heard the Dwarven voice actor. Cheesy voices I would have forgiven easily had the gameplay been good, but it wasn't. You could literally "win" every level in the demo by just spamming rogues. Waypoints didn't matter, tower placement didn't matter, resources were never maxed for literally 95% of every level. I don't even know how you'd ever run low unless you were casting "Repair castle" all the time. I don't think an enemy unit ever reached my castle in the entire demo.

Couple that with a really annoying training section (literally most of the demo), which is pretty much the worst kind of tutorial (see Extra Credits episode on good tutorials) and yeah, I'm totally turned off. It's 15 USD too, which is kind of steep for a really uninspired TD game.

Did anyone play "Swords & Soldiers" (currently included in HIB Android 2)? Is it any good? How does it compare to, say, Plants vs. Zombies?

The same person also did the advisor in Majesty 1 as well (or at least he sounds nigh identical). I thought he was pretty good actually

That being said, I agree with you in regards to Defenders of Ardania, it was not a very fun game, at least not judging by the demo.

It is not a tower defense game, instead it is a side scrolling RTS where you send out waves of your own troops towards the enemy, who will do the same to you. I did not find Swords & Soldiers to be particularly fun, it got far too repetitive far too fast.

Too be fair, abobe air can get the job done. League of Legends runs off abobe air, and while it could probably be a lot better with a different system, it works and does a solid job. So if it can handle LoL then it can easily handle defendersquest which looks to be a fun game.
