Until now, I feel I have been very lucky: I do not have a tale of this kind to share, though I fear it will not be for long.
What I can say with certainty is that one's life lenght does not matter, only believes and actions can shape and give value to the little time we have; reading the first post, I'm sure that Sachys' father has lived a full life and has nothing to regret - THIS is something one should be proud of, and we all should follow the example. Facing the end knowing that not even a moment has been wasted is not only commendable, but also something I myself hope to achieve when, eventually, I'll be in the same situation.
