I have to confess, I really enjoy game adaptations, even if they are terrible... especially if they are terrible. And Resident Evil and Silent Hill were actually pretty decent movies.
I'm in and thank you very much for the giveaway.

For me the best adaptation is Kurosawa's "Throne of Blood". He transferred "Macbeth" to medieval Japan so perfectly and without using a single line from the source material.
I'm in, thanks.

I'm in as well, thank you for the contest! :)
I´m in, thankz. About adaptions, Street Fighter had a horrible movie, but the worst thing was that movie end it up been Raul Julia´s last work.

mc_leod: Have to quote here - really the same feelings.

If the Hitchhiker would have been not from a book it would be a mediocre film with some nice ideas and "some" of the humor was working. When you ever had one of the books in your hand it makes you not just angry, I almost freaked out.

Sachys: ...as i do keep telling people on here - HHGTTG was a radio drama first and foremost. the printed novel came later, and the film was actually more directly inspired by the radio drama and TV series than the novels. flawed as it may be... some things are closer to Adam's actual ideas than you would be familiar with.
Always learn new things here - i have known about the radioshow but thought it was out of the books.
But I know it was a very good reviewed radioshow shame on me i never got over it

Is this one the original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-BbC3k0szk ?
And for my first ever post-first of many I hope- I declare that:

Best adaptation: Tough to say but I think Game of Thrones is a *really* well done TV adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire. Which, I see as notable because prior to it I didn't think any related thing would be possible.
Worst adaptation: The Fatal Fury OVA. No. Just no...
Unfortunately Septerra Core has never received a movie, at least to my knowledge.

Thanks for doing these contests, great way to get new users to take the plunge into the forum. :D

Also very good :)

I kind of love best, cartoon adaptations. Perhaps, that is what I started off first. But I feel, that an animated format brings a lot more to the table, including flexibility that is tough to pull off in live action. And somehow, the characters are presented better, with better emotive voice-acting.

Movie adaptations, aside from the flashy effects, comes across as quite the bastardization, with very little how I'd imagine they'd be.
I'm in, and thanks to Sachys and The Sigil for hosting these.

Worst video game movie: Super Mario Bros.
Best video game movie: Tomb Raider series

I also enjoyed the DOOM movie although it wasn't as polished. The Far Cry movie was decent too.

Muttala: Worst adaptation - Super Mario Bros.... Anyone have the same choice? :P
Agreed - that movie has got to be the worst or one of the worst adaptations EVER

Best adaptation: Princess Bride ... the book has some extra fun, but overall, the movie is much better than the book, which is most unusual
