I used to play a MMO called Lineage 2. it is a game that at the time had almost no quests, there were a couple though where you did a quest to advance your class.

At the time I was playing a Shililen Knight and to advance my class at something like iirc Lv 40, I had to do a quest where you collected a series of components (spider silk etc.).
When I had all the components collected and went back to the quest giver, it transpired that the components were to create my "coffin" and I had to sign the place where my head would rest, in blood, because all knights of shilien must expect to die and to already assume you were dead would cause you to lose all fear of dying.

It sounds kinda dry just saying it like that, but as the quest progressed and the end revealed, I actually shed a wee tear.
