hhmm.... many adventures have a 'get all the pieces and assemble the item' quest -or a "trade strange items until you get something useful' quest. One of the funniest versions of the latter occurs in Link's Awakening, the GBA Zelda game, where the guy (who thinks he is talking to Princess Peach) sends a hibiscus to a goat, who happily eats the flower. Then there's the point at which you 'help' the villager who is trying to take down that hornet's nest....
