NOW HEAR THIS:

Fellow GOGlodytes,

Six months ago we set up a temporary giveaway to fill the void left by the departure of various regular gifters on this forum, and to honour both them and other missing GOGlodytes. As time has passed, it has become apparent that this giveaway is no longer temporary, but a more permanent fixture.

Entry is simple: state that you're entering. A $10 game of your choice if you win.

On our behalf (and to maintain anonimity), Sachys has agreed to host and manage the giveaway process.

Post to be entered. Our identities are not to be revealed by the winners - or else their future entries will be refused.

Kind Regards,
The Sigil

ADDITIONAL:

This is a simple lottery - one person, one entry. Entries for anyone other than yourself and your own personal gaming enjoyment will not be counted.
All entrants must have an avatar and something other than "new user" as their "forum title".
The title can be changed , and the avatar [url=https://secure.gog.com/account/settings]HERE.
Entries not adhering to these requirements will not qualify.

YOU MAY RETURN TO YOUR GOGLODATION!

ENTRIES CLOSE 7PM GMT WEDNESDAY JUNE 4th

...and from me guys: if you could please refrain from bumping the thread, it would be a great help as it makes keeping tally and checking for double entries a little difficult.

For additional fun and participation this week (does not affect your entry)...

Systems and tech that didnt catch on even though it was supposedly better than that which did. Examples: the 8-track and BetaMax
Any favourites or lesser known ones for you lot? - Anyone still using some of it? ...and so on...
I'm so in here with the Minidisc. My friends at uni were all "100MB that can be overwritten", "The new format, will replace CDs". Gone in a flash.

o__O
...is that an entry I see before me?!
In, thank you.

Really can't think of anything that stands out. If we ever owned a Betamax, I'd probably say that.

No idea. Is it?

Also, best way to ensure your technology becomes successful is to make sure the smut empire embraces it. Examples.
I'm in, thank you guys ;)

To release Blu-Ray and HD-DVD in the same time was a commercial mistake and a fault towards consumers !
One of them was sentenced to death before its release and it was a machiavelic marketing strategy to raise money on people who were unaware that it was a short time product.
Even today, the Blu-ray is not as revolutionary as the DVD, it's just a DVD+++ !

I'm in. Thank you guys, you're good gentlemans.
Not in this time, already won the previous giveaway, so I want to give others a chance... but thanks. +1

I do remember using PocketZip/Clik drives a long time ago. Quite interesting, we actually used them pretty regularly. Anyone else remember them?

EDIT: Maybe not THAT regularly..... but we did use them

I'll take that as a yes
In. Zip drives for sure. Amazing how quickly storage advanced and forced them out.
I'm in and.. I once bought a SuperDisk LS-120 drive (my cousin's fault).
It was indeed cool for its great capacity on special floppy disks, but.. it became quickly obsolete with CD-RW lol!
