I'm in, thank you!

Sequels can certainly be great. Master of Orion 2, Railroad Tycoon 2, Monkey Island 2, to name a few. I don't know much about remakes though. They say the 10th anniversary remake of Setllers 2 (which is a sequel itself) is quite good and faithful to the original. I'll check it out if I win :)
So what about the sequels that are prequels and the follow ups that aren't directly connected with the first in a series and often take a different slant or style on the content / themes and even genre - any thoughts / interesting suggestions?

Edit: also thanks to those of you who have engaged in the topic thus far - some interesting posts!

Funny you should post that, just as I bumped the street fighter thread. As well as that , I'd point out Mortal Kombat Legacy as being another excellent reboot. Also, I don't know if I've mentioned it enough. Bioshock Infinite - it really is that good.

was tempted to grab it not long ago - but im about halfway through #2 right now - perhaps the next time its price drops ill be tempted
I'm in, thanks.
I'm in. In terms of movies, I thought Aliens was better than Alien. It's one of my fav movies of all time, in fact. Plus I have to give it to Terminator 2. It was in many ways more spectacular than its original - maybe better overall depending on the person.
Thanks Sachys and Sigil.
Not in, but thanks to The Sigil!
I'm in, Thanks :)

Sequels, reboots and remakes - are any ever better than the original?
Sometimes they are. Pride & Prejudice has been remade a number of times, but the one most people think is the best was the 3rd or 4th full remake (People argue about which one. I like the 3rd one with Jennifer Ehle & Colin Firth, myself)

Some of the later Star Trek movies were very good. I liked the recent reboots very much too..

O.o You hate Pride and Prejudice?? Seriously?? A lot of guys aren't into it, but that seems kinda...excessive.
I'm not into much romance stuff, but Austen books are the exception. I think its because they are such witty observations of humor nature, and this carries over into the better performances. For the record, no performance of them has more than half the humor of the original classic stories, because much of the best stuff is said by the 'narrator..

Yes, this is a story I want to hear. In fact, its gonna be a long wait until Wednesday. ;)

SalarShushan:
being forced to cover it for English Lit at school THREE YEARS IN A ROW, and then again at college will make you hate Austen!
O______O

Edit: couldn't be bothered laving it until wednesday or giving a long explanation... ;)

I have to agree that the reboot was WAY better than I expected it to be.
I'm in this week. Thank you all!
