NOW HEAR THIS:

Fellow GOGlodytes,

Six months ago we set up a temporary giveaway to fill the void left by the departure of various regular gifters on this forum, and to honour both them and other missing GOGlodytes. As time has passed, it has become apparent that this giveaway is no longer temporary, but a more permanent fixture.

Entry is simple: state that you're entering. A $10 game of your choice if you win.

On our behalf (and to maintain anonimity), Sachys has agreed to host and manage the giveaway process.

Post to be entered. Our identities are not to be revealed by the winners - or else their future entries will be refused.

Kind Regards,
The Sigil

ADDITIONAL:

This is a simple lottery - one person, one entry. Entries for anyone other than yourself and your own personal gaming enjoyment will not be counted.
All entrants must have an avatar and something other than "new user" as their "forum title".
The title can be changed , and the avatar [url=https://secure.gog.com/account/settings]HERE.
Entries not adhering to these requirements will not qualify.

YOU MAY RETURN TO YOUR GOGLODATION!

ENTRIES CLOSE 7PM GMT WEDNESDAY MAY 21st

...and from me guys: if you could please refrain from bumping the thread, it would be a great help as it makes keeping tally and checking for double entries a little difficult.

For additional fun and participation this week (does not affect your entry)...
Games marketing and promotional strategies.
Take for instance the current GOG Insomnia sale - its definately quite divisive among the users, yes obviously works for GOG as (at the least) a promotional stunt. What stunts / incentives / offers come to mind when you think about it? Any great ones - or utterly "who the hell thought of that idiocy?" moments?
Wouldn't miss the chance to be in. Thank you Sachys & Sigil.
I'll edit my post if I can think of a case of "What marketing genius came up with that one." There are great ones out there.
I'm in.

For marketing campaign, I really liked the Shadow of the Colossus one, where they released several "fake" documentaries. Very interesting and well done.
In again - thanks! +1 to Sachys for doing the SIGIL's work!

The Insomnia sale isn't a very bad marketing move IMO, in fact the one in Fall was when I created my account! (And I'm sure more accounts were created at that time)

That said, the free game in each year's Winter sale seems like a good way to get attention, and attract more users. That Fallout giveaway sure hit the servers pretty hard, that's for sure.
I'm in, and many thanks to both you and the Sigil for the continued generosity ♥

I love the Insomnia sales here at GOG -- they're BRILLIANT marketing, as the hurry hurry hurry feeling and the "I have to get SOMETHING from this sale" speaks to the gambler in us and makes us hit buy, even if it's not a great price (though mostly they ARE great prices!)

What I I DON'T like are the SNAFU-type promos that Big Fish sometimes does -- like the one they did last week where they advertised that if you installed x-free-to-play game, you'd get a coupon for 60% off any game (including CE's)... but then no one is getting their codes now unless they ASK for them!
I'm in, and thanks for this lottery. ^__^
I'm in! And +1
I'm in. Thank you for the giveaway S&S (+1).
And I'm in again, thanks guys!

I usually think GOG promos are pretty good (crazy, but good). I don't really pay attention to other promos, though..
I'm in! Thanks so much for what you're doing. <3
ME INI ! ME WINEY !
I am in, thank you kindly

As for advertizing, I have to say that in this age of entitlement, with so many vendors out there, in the digital download realm, people buy from whoever has the game that they want at the cheapest price, so all of the free game when you sign up gimmicks are the worst idea in my opinion. Based on the number of copies up at steamgifts and other trading sights, it is obvious how many people register multiple times just to get the free games to trade. Someone who would do that has no loyalty to any vendor at all.
I'm in, thanks!

I'm afraid I can't think of any promotions that stand out in my mind. I just like it when the prices go really low because then I feel like buying stuff. Yup.
Not in, but thanks to Sachys and The Sigil as always!
