Didn't bought it, but I would say Dotemu is trustful. Bought 6 games yet from them, no DRM so far. They try to go the same way like CD Projekt with GOG, releasing old games DRM-free. Dotemu is also a publisher, some games from them are also here on GOG.

Even though i really would love to buy bloodlines, i don't want to give credit card details out to lots of different websites, how is their payment method?

Is it as simple as GoGs or will i have to fill out my real life details etc like on steam?

Unfortunately not as simple like GOG. I use Paypal, but I also need to fill out some informations (adress, etc). I don't use Steam, so I really can't compare here. About payment GOG is really brilliant.

Edit: They ask for street adress, city, country, and phone number.
That's a good question I'm also interested in. Like GOG they use their own installer.

There are some games (Broken Sword remastered, Still Life) who were first on Dotemu and then came to GOG. Also Activsion is already onboard here. That are the good points

The only problem at the moment is the price tag. With 20$ it's above GOGs 10$ maximum, but GOG already announced that there will be more price tags in the future. Also Activision will maybe lower the price someday, but that's maybe depends on how well the sales will go on D2D and Dotemu.

That Dotemu site looks really cool. One thing I noticed about the vamprie bloodlines page is that is actualy says the game is windows 7 compatible! o_O Even though, steam and d2d are charging only 14 dollars now since Dotemu has no DRM AND if they made it so it would be compaitble on windows 7 64 bit then I'm really tempted. In the middle of playing NWN2 right now (on act three and going to then play mask of the betrayer) When I'm done tempted to buy the game on Dotemu. If anyone gets it from Dotemu tell us how it is!

One thing though, if Dotemu makes it so Vampire Bloodlines is compatible with windows 7, I wonder how they did it. Did they use the fan patch? If not, wondering if this effects modding at all. Not that I care that much, even though I played my share of PC games I don't think I ever used mods...

I may still wait for GOG to have it just because I had an easy time using it in the past.

Edit: a bit a confused because the site says the game isn't compatible with xp 64 bit isn't that the same problem as windows 7 64 bit? But like I said on the top of the site it says compatible with xp, vista, 7, and 32 and 64 bit systems. Confusing.

The details settings for the models were the highest (it's under a setting called "geometric" I believe), and the shadow settings the best one (none, simple, complex, and soft, the last of which I used). These were from the in-game graphic/options menu after installation.

I noticed this too. Although, as I mentioned, it's easy enough to manually make the game "DRM-free" using a no-cd crack out there, either from a patched Bloodlines 1.2 version from a site like GameCopyWorld or the included .exe file from the fan-made VtMB True Gold Patch package.

Dotemu are a fine site, I look at them as like a little sister site to GOG. I've bought three games from them (Robin Hood: Legend of Sherwood, Post Mortem, Still Life). They're as DRM-free as GOG, just without the polish or extra goodies of this site. For a DD service that seems to mostly peddle in obscure strategy titles and goofy adventure games, having Bloodlines show up on their roster is a bit bizarre. This out-of-print gem seems to be sold *everywhere* now...except GOG!

While Bloodlines remains on sale at Direct2Drive though, it's worth buying it from there if you want to save a few bucks.

Interesting. The price on DotEmu got silently raised from the €14.99 to €19.99. Activision really insists on it, then.

Which means that for us non-UK Eurolanders, the cheapest option right now (and in fact the lowest I've ever seen the price of this game go) is Steam. €13.39 in EU2 while the summer sale lasts. I'll probably pick it up there; with this price policy, a GOG release is looking quite unlikely.

Due to inflation...My guess is it's only a matter of time before GOG has to raise their prices...unless of course they get more and more new people coming in to buy there games...HMMMM....Get out there everyone, pick up your signs your pamplets and announce GOG to the world! :P

Well, Until GOG decides to raise their prices I don't think we will see Bloodlines here either, that's too bad, because for the people that haven't played it yet, it is a very fun game...I remember when I first played it and went into that big haunted mansion, I was actually a little terrified, they scripted it just right to spook and suprise...it was an awesome gaming moment for me.

They really raised the price to $=€. On the start page there is still their advertisement banner showing the old price.

I really hope it's a mistake, but from the Trilarions DRM-free release thread you can see they have some $=€ priced games.That sounds not very good.

Edit: They also changed their banner to 20€, so it was not a mistake. That's sucks, really.
