cw8: I find it amusing that he can climb virtually any building, probably do 1000 pullups in one go and jump from step to step with precision but can't swim.

Nothing like jumping from boat to boat, only to have a drunk on a boat to push me down into the water.

Taleroth: Ezio can swim. He's even got a dive function to hide underwater. Heck, I think there's at least one mission where jumping into the water and swimming away is the designated escape route.
Yeah, they added swimming in AC2, which is good. In AC1 it was really annoying to get knocked into the water and die.

GameRager: It reminds me of the older games like Spyro, some Castlevanias, Sonic, etc....where the heroes can do all sorts of amazing feats but can't swim in knee deep water....maybe this was a throwback to those days? :\
Yeah, it reminded me of the earlier GTAs. You can't swim in them either.
I've played AC1... up to the second city, then decided that it was definitely too repetitive for me to care anymore. So, I've never played AC2 or AC:B.

I'm probably missing great games, but well, my backlog of games (not only Good Old ones) is so vast I think I can deal with it... ^_^

I think I'm at the last few parts of AC1. Only playing for the story. I do like the minimum 3 investigations and then go ahead and assassinate my target.
Completed Assassin's Creed 1 yesterday. Can swear it's the most repetitive game I've played, luckily the story was good and drove me on. Not sure why though I find the story structure in AC1 pretty similar to XIII though I prefer XIII's plot.

Well on to AC2.
AC2 and B are obviously preferable in terms of gameplay, but I liked the philosophical bend to the plot in AC1 better. I can't fathom why they dropped the long "post-kill" talks in 2 and B - in fact, B only has four assassinations where two of the targets are simple mooks.
I guess they took it out mainly because the targets themselves were not all that philosophical themselves. And in Brotherhood, well by then Ezio had been killing people for over 20 years, and his personal vendetta was pretty much over. And rekindled again, but his original purpose was fulfilled.Kind of funny how he refused or was weirded out to close Malfatto's eyes, in any case.

Also, in Brotherhood he doesn't really care all that much for the victims, after all you get more sync % in some of them by sending your apprentices to do the deed.
Which has not gotten old for me. Oh, a bunch of Borgia guards, what shall I do? *whistles*
I actually think AC1 did some things better than AC2. For example the graphics are better, and the immersion thus is a little better. The original had better music as well, in my opinion. Gameplay wise the variety of AC2 is hard to deny, but then most of the things I was doing were annoying or not as enjoyable. AC1 might be repetitive, but I felt it kept to the core gameplay I enjoyed rather than give me boring side-missions and filler.

In the end though the second game is still probably better, even for me. The variety is a huge plus even though some of it is filler and the story is much better. If you're focused on gameplay and had a large issue with the repetitiveness of AC1 you are probably in the group that would love AC2 a lot more.
I'm with everyone else: AC2 and AC:B are much more interesting games (from a design/gameplay standpoint).

Also, try out the AC:B multiplayer sometime if you're interested: the cat-and mouse assassination maps were some of the most fun I'd had online in a while. Takes good tactics far more than reflexes.
I'm playing AC2 now, seems like alot more fun than AC1. More like GTA/Saboteur this time round, instead of doing the same thing over and over again.

However, I prefer Altair's outfit and character better. I normally don't take a liking to playboys. :D

Yeah I have to say that I was deeply amazed at the fact that the multiplayer was so different than the usual deathmatch & ctf bollocks that get tacked onto single player experiences to ruin them in hopes of getting a few more sales.

The ACB multiplayer was actually really good even if there were a few abilities you couldn't counter

Hit Uplay and grab the Altair skin :P
There's a whole different approach between Ezio and Altair. Altair was stealthy and covert, while Ezio is flamboyant and EXTREMELY noticeable, he does not really hide or tries to blend. That is a plot point.

Also, a THIRD hd Ezio game in the future. Now in Constantinople, which is a nice change of pace, but after AC2 and Brotherhood, I am already kind of tired of Ezio.. Great character developement, and subtle character portrayal changes are nice, but I already want to see something or someone else as the main character!
This is supposed to be the last Ezio game. He's depicted as a bit over the hill in age. I wouldn't call him old by any stretch, but he definitely looks like he could be pushing 40.

I just hope he dies in a suitably dramatic fashion. While fighting and after an important victory that segues into the next title.

Seeing him die would be a plot hole. Desmond is only supposed to see Ezio's events up to where Ezio's descendant that is ALSO Desmond's direct ancestor is born.
