I finished the game this morning. Stayed up the whole night to play it, it was just too compelling to put down, even with a few lull points. Despite the grappling hook being an annoying pain to use, I can see why this game has earned its GOTY title. Very deserving indeed. The variation of game types - of which are diverse on their own - is so nicely balanced that it never feels like you're doing too much of the same thing.
I absolutely loved Arkham Asylum. Sure, the end fight against Joker is fairly lame, but those Scarecrow battles...goddamn!
At some point I intend to play through again and try to collect enough loot to unlock more challenge maps. :)
Those messed up sounds and graphics just got me a couple mins ago. So much so I thought my computer was crashing or my graphics card was overheating and I alt tabbed out of the game. Now is there anything I missed between that happening and the cutscene playing? I was alt tabbed for a good 10 seconds.
You were probably fine. It basically begins a repeat of the opening sequence from the game, only the Joker and Batman roles are reversed.

I thought the whole sequence - after the cutscene, but before the real nightmare starts - was very interesting. Caught me off guard.

Another thing: I am in Intensive Care, going to hunt for Killer Croc, when the asylum's message system sounds and says "Did you catch the game last night", and all of a sudden I become the Joker.
Now I get screen flickering as shown below, before the cutscene where Joker drives the Batmobile plays. This is normal, right? All part of the game? Googling says even the X360 players are getting the same thing as well, but just to make sure. Can't be too careful about hardware artifacts lol.

The glitching is Scarecrow breaking the 4th wall, actually (and messing with YOUR head, to make you think the game hanged/crashed). I thought it was quite brilliant. ;-)

Agreed. They did a really nice job with it.
