I was browsing through Abandonia and noticed couple of games that GOG could put in the free games here (yes I can download from Abandonia, but I prefer the shelf and extras here).

Blood Omen - Legacy Of Kain
Call of Cthulhu - Shadow of the Comet
Nightmare Creatures
Discworld

From the info on Abandonia it seems there is no problem with GOG releasing this games

The fact that game is on Abadonia doesnt mean Abadonia has proper rights to distribute it.
And I would at least remove the [url= tags as well since posting links to abandonware games could be seen by someone as posting a link to pirated software.

I would never expect to see Blood Omen on here for free, but I would jump at the chance to pay $5.99 for it
I didn't even know Nightmare Creatures had a PC version. Huh.

If a GOG personel came in and say the links are problematic I will remove them.

Well, considering that Activision is already on board one can only hope that they will allow the Blood Omen game on here.
At lease Blood Omen is still controlled by Eidos and thus Square, and could come here.

In any event the very idea of abandonware is often in the instance that licensing malarkey stops the games from being properly distributed, including for free.

If this is the predecessor to Soulreaver, it definitely is!

The strangest thing is that a lot of the games sold on GOG are pointed as abandonware by the developers but yet the publishers want money for them... that's a bit anoying

Abandonware is not a legal term. You may download these games and expect nobody will sue you. But GOG can't host them , because lawsuit will be delivered right away.

Well, it's a way to see who holds the rights to some game. For example, if GOG hosted System Shock 2, lawsuits would show which company holds the rights for it :D and the court would decide once and for all who can distribute it legally :D

In my head Abandoware means.. that the developer released the game/source for free in the web. I still don't get the whole lawsuit by greedy publishers for games like that.
Nope. If company released it for free in the web, it's freeware. Like GTA or Comand & Conquer.
Abandonware is a term to describe games that are not avaible anymore any any company wants to sell it.

Can you provide a link to that? And what do you mean by "a lot"?
