It WAS in warcraft 2 you hear peon say "work complete", and you use space to jump to the location. It's even clearly pointed out in a manual as a revolutionary feature. Funny you can use space to cycle through recent events, while in later starcraft space only shows the most recent one.

I'm one of the people who are more interested about the lore and story. Vanilla WoW was actually good, that was before the end of it when they started destroying their own lore. Vanilla WoW was before cross-server anything, you played and pvped with your servermates, you knew who to look out for, who is exceptionally deadly in PVP and the ones who were simply assholes. Now, WoW seems to have lost most of that charm, everything's easier of course in terms of being facilitated, but it's mostly get better gear, kill more bosses etc.

I loved WC2, I couldn't get into the original, I think it had to do with the screen size being too small for my taste. I could see very little of what was going on at any given time and the screen felt cramped.

I should look to see if anybody's managed to do an alternate engine that fixes that problem.

WC3 was still pretty good, but I have no interest in WoW or WoD, they just stray way too far from the original series for my taste and come off as a lazy effort to cash in on successful franchises. Same goes for SC1.5 as well.

I just don't play MMO's and MP's, period

In the time you waste on one of these you can have several really unique and fantastic SP journeys.

Indeed, I played Travian, Ankhet and I forget the other one for a while and found that because I was rewarded for being online constantly and punished for leaving that I was sucking up all my time on that rather than doing something with my life.

Since then, I don't play games like that.

Just strech it out fullscreen in DOSBox, 320x200 is too small to play in native screen resolution.

SC 1.5 was pretty bad in the story/lore department, but I still play it because of the multiplayer which is solid (not to mention it's the only classic RTS game curently alive).

Too bad they are only interested in selling licenses for the whole eSports thing, while little improvement goes in the whole game.
Current MOBA games already put the whole B.net 2.0 to shame.

In all honesty, I liked Blizzard a lot better before they released WoW, the games they're releasing now are not the same at all. I probably would have like the newer games had I not played the older games and had they not taken so many years to release them.

Same here, the new titles just pale in comparison to me.
Then again having to replay The lost Vikings, Black Thorne, Rock and Roll racing, Diablo I & II, Warcraft I, II, Beyond the Dark Portal, Starcraft and Brood War is enugh for years to come.

Funny thing is how fresh they feel every time I replay them.

no way, there's a lot to not like, objectively and subjectively, but there's also a lot of evidence of passion and love out there, you need to just take time and know where too look. Many people seem to presume that Blizzard doesn't care and is only about the money - yes, many changes go this way sadly, but that's just part of the true. People are so extreme in their judgements, try to see the whole picture.

What is WoD?

You have to bear in mind that I said that, while never having played the vanilla: i first booted WoW during Cataclysm. So i absolutely don't get all those complaints about destroying the lore, even though I played WC3 before. In fact, if I say i'm interested in lore, i mean post-vanilla lore too. I really like some concepts behind Mists of Pandaria for example, how they play on the themes of colonialism, a new land caught amidst the political struggle between the two factions... We'll see how it turns out... when i get a better cpu and cash for sub.

That being said I also have problems with cross-server stuff, as I already mentioned.

Maybe someone will explain to me: what EXACTLY they have destroyed. Becouse all i keep hearing is just general "strayed", "destroyed"...

Don't get me wrong, I think they care, I just think that all the people who understood how to make those games have left in large part due to the long period between releases. And that as a result they would do well to just let the games die. SC2 was a profound disappointment because it felt like a less good version of the original game. They could have released it a decade earlier and it probably would have been acceptable. But after such a long wait it should have been spectacular.

Then again, Blizzard made a big deal out of it being an esport release, so again I'm not sure it's a lack of trying so much as a lack of comprehension about what made it magic. For esports I'm sure the game was fine, but it actually made replaying the original worse. And I'm not sure if the game was always that bad or if the sequel ruined it for me knowing where it was going.

Or it could be that they had patched the multiplayer many times since I was doing my skirmishes and rebalancing things.

World of Diablo, it refers to that travesty that is D3 where they decided to take away the singleplayer game for our own good.

Yeah, the colonial concept is cool, but try too look at it from the perspective of someone who played the games in order of release.

First game has orcs and humans in the typical fantasy/gothic setting, the second game adds ogres, trolls, goblins, dwarves and elves. Nothing too wacky and the story was a series of logical strategic decisions to win a war (in both games).

Then W3 and TFT came along removing the story from a strategy viewpoint to a more epic fantasy with a hero that has to fulfill his destiny. They also added so many creature races that they could rival Heroes of Might and Magic with wackiness amped to 11.

WoW took this drastic change even further adding even more stuff, rewriting lore and now adding a whole Panda infested continent.
That's quite the change in direction if you follow the whole series, not to mention to the fans of the original series.

Anybody with a Warcraft 2 Battle.net Edition key that he doesn't care about?

It doesn't activate on Battle.net like older legacy titles if you are after that and the multiplayer is dead.
