There should be an option for this forum that makes it so, nobody can PM you or only certain people can PM you.

All the people in the world who feel entitled to gifts are, of course, going to come here and harass people. These people seek out generous people just like con artists seek out naive people. That is life. These people are like pregnant mosquitoes looking for blood. So what can we do? Well, next time someone PMs you asking for a game, tell this person to FUCK OFF. If everyone responds like this to PM begging, in time, it will stop.

If you give these people what they want though, more will come and they will overrun GOG general discussion and create a Zerg like nest.

Or at least make it so that users can't send PMs until they've established a certain amont of rep.
It won't keep them from stalking the Ninja GA thread or entering GAs as such, but the PM problem would go down to a minimum.

Any time someone PMs me out of the blue (which is rarely, but it ha happened) and I have a feeling something may be off; I google their username and GOG(and that is because GOG doesn't have this feature built in). I do this not to pry, but to get an idea of whom I am dealing with.

sadly it wont mate - but more frugal / carefully placed gifts (ie no open codes) may help, as well as the community at large being more aware of it / wary of such things. a big fuck off "NO" painted on the moon if worth more than all the chinstraps in skegness! (yorskshire proverb!).

You don't think telling people to FUCK OFF, will work? Why? Unless the person is only pretending to want you to gift him or a her a game just to talk to you because he or she wants a sexy time with you, I think FUCK OFF very clearly communicates to the beggar that he or she is not getting shit.

I guess there's no easy way around the problem, only other options are to implement a "Do not disturb" function or simply to block users is their PMs are unwanted.
