tinyE: and Yes, worked like a charm. If you're ever in the U.P. look me up I'll buy you a drink to thank you.
Glad to hear it! remember the game has at least 7 different endings that I know of.

Also, will do! - I consulted http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._state_abbreviations but couldn't find U.P. so I'll try to decipher that later : hoping to go the states middle of this year or next - very excited :D
This thread actually encouraged me to watch the movie again. I've seen it before a couple of times (probably the original version) and i liked it a lot and later i bought a big steel box with like 4 versions or so of the movie and some memorabilia but i haven't watched it yet. I'm the kind of person that hoards stuff, but thanks to this thread i might actually check the movies from that big box finally :D
Sundays new Top Gear episode used music from Blade Runner in one of the segments...don't ask me how I mustered the sheer force of will not to pop the Blu-ray into the player and watch the movie from start to finish...

Its pretty easy to find the Blade Runner game for just a few bucks on ebay, although it might be harder to get it to run depending on your system (but not impossible, I managed it with just Turbo for a couple spots). And its well worth it, great game. If I remember correctly there's actually 11 variations on the end, but there's basically three branches you can follow with some minor tweaks to each. What's most impressive to me is the amazing atmosphere and the way the game changes each time you play it. There's only a couple of characters that are the same every time, and frankly the game deals with the ambiguity of your character better than the film does with Deckard.

So yeah, its a must for any Blade Runner/sci-fi fan and for any adventure game fan... and I'd still recommend it for everyone else too.
While I enjoy most of the iterations of Blade Runner, I have to say I am in the group that likes the narration by Deckard. I think it's the fact the story has a Noir tinge to it and I am a huge fan of Sam Spade/Philip Marlowe/etc... stories so the narration just works for me. I understand some don't like it, and that's fine, that's why it's advantageous to have so many versions of the film to watch and enjoy. A flavour for every person and all that.

sauvignon1: The Final Cut on blu-ray is THE version to watch. It's my demo disc for when I want to show off my system and just what blu-ray is capable of.
Really? I have the UK/German Bluray, which I picked up cheap as part of a bundle deal, to replace my DVD, and I found both the picture and the sound of the Bluray pretty weak. The sound in particular has a slightly tinny feel to it.

I find both versions work for different reasons. I grew up with the original version and can't escape the feeling that the narration is missing even today when I watch the Final Cut.

tinyE: No narration + unicorn scene + no sunrise at the ending = director's cut = WAY BETTER!
So I have seen the director's cut and it was just exactly the same as the theatrical cut just with those 3 things added.

Sigh just why does this film feels soooooo......I don't know how to describe it.

I am a little jaded of watching a film thats focuses more on symbolism, themes, and messages instead of just making a comprehensible story. especially where I don't understand some of the things that its saying like what was the point of the dove flying away, The Origami figures, the Unicorn, Roy's quotes?

I hate it that I watch a film not getting it and forced to read from a wiki. Am I just not smart enough for this film?

By the way have you seen the final cut yet?

Differences between the DC and the Final Cut are minimal. Just a few details, really. Ridley Scott did it because he wasn't even involved with the DC, AFAIK.

The origami figures are just Gaff's way of expressing his thoughts. Some of them work better if English is your native tongue (the chicken), and they indicate that he knows A LOT about Deckard. About who he is, and what he could be.

No shit? I haven't seen a laserdisc since grade school. I don't think I ever knew anyone that owned one but I remember all the audio/video stores used to keep them out front on the floor because they looked cool.

Yeah still have those and a few other random movies. I need to get another player though since mine died a year ago.
You ever notice all the pictures that one police officer has in his office? Just him standing over animal trophy kills. If the film keeps it from the book, such pictures would be enough to have that cop arrested, ostracized, & thrown in a mad house wouldn't they? Animals are pretty much sacred to them because of how rare they are, yet he proudly displays kills. If you didn't mistrust him enough they throw that in there.
In my language, the first version has a very good narration, so it's a pity that it was lost in the "final cut".

About the ending revelation, then, I quite prefer the original choice (it's more.. philosophical), instead of the new twist (cool, but less great).

Many fixes are obviously better in the last version, but some changed a bit too much.
For example, the original perfectly clear sky with the dove is wrong, but it was also great because it somewhat suggested a sort of purification and realization.
I would have preferred a bit less dark new edit (with a clearing in the clouds?)

Nice catch, I never noticed that.

Well, it's as Bryant said. "You know the score, pal! You're not cop, you're little people!"
