Eeeeeeeeeeeee.

Backing this so hard!
It's official:

Plan 9 - Finally! An Announcement!

Project Fedora Kickstarter Announcement - YouTube
Well, as many of you have suspected (or possibly read in “GamesTM”) we are working on a new Tex Murphy game. (Better late than never, right?... right? )
We made a decision within the past few months that now was the time to complete the Tex Storyline. We could not wait any longer. We agreed that we needed to finish the story, although it had to be a more "modest" game design since Big Finish Games is a small gaming studio.

However, with the recent Kickstarter success stories for other Adventure Games - Double Fine Adventure & Wasteland 2 - we saw an opportunity to create a game of a larger scale. So, with that in mind, we hope to bring the next Tex Murphy game to an a much bigger, dare I say, epic level - More actors, locations, broader stories and yes - even meaningful, varied story paths. With these elements, we have a better chance of expanding the audience and a better chance of commercial success and continuation. All of this would allow us to make a true Adventure game with Immersive 3D world, Full Motion Video, and longer game play.
On May 15, we are going to launch a Kickstarter page to help raise funding for the project. As we prepare to film the Kickstarter video, we’re interested in feedback from you guys about what fundraising incentives you would like to see. Old Games? New Games? Tote Bags? T-Shirts, Posters, Artwork, Autographs, dinner for two? Dinner for three? Carl Kasell’s voice on your home answering machine? Let us know!

We also to get you involved in making the video. We want “Tex Murphy Testimonials” – written or video testimonials about what you loved about the prior games. We will incorporate some of these testimonials into our video and post others on our website or YouTube page.
If you would like to send us feedback or get involved, please fill out the form on Big Finish’s contact page: http://bigfinishgames.com/contact

Thank you for sticking with us! We've really appreciated your patience and loyalty and hope to give you guys an awesome game!

Thanks,
Chris

It's good they are taking their time to start their Kickstarter. No rush, just make a good project, talk to a lot of sites about it to get the buzz going before it goes live.
I have to admit I'm seriously considering contributing to this. I'm having a blast with The Pandora Directive.

I've played FMV games before, most notably Gabriel Knight 2 and The Phantasagoria games, but TPD is definately far more indepth with it's video and it's modeled world, it's not just clicking on a video background. It's very well done.
This is great news and I'll be backing it, but forgive me if I'm a little pessimisitic.

I think Double fine's success was an unusual example. Look at wasteland 2, it has more or less halted short of 1.5 mil (which isn't a small figure)

Big finish are going to need a decent sum of money to do Tex justice and the only people who will back this game are those who loved the originals.

It will be amazing though if it does succeed!

Well, the Double Fine and Wasteland 2 campaigns were a bit different in that they wouldn't have made those games at all without a successful Kickstarter. From the Tex Murphy announcement I understood that they were going to make a new game anyway, even without Kickstarter. They just see Kickstarter as a way raise additional funds to make the game bigger and better than what they had initially planned. So I guess they're aiming for a much lower target than Double Fine or InXile.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that I read from the unofficial forums a few years back that they had secured a source of funding and were simply building on it (the hidden object games).
Is it going to be on the same scale as UaKM/PD? Or is it going to be casualized?
I AM SO FUCKING PUMPED FOR THIS FBHAHBAHHAHFAHHAGHAGLHGBAHHHHAHHAHGAHAGH

In Chris Jones' statement he explains it was initially going to be a "modest" game but now he talks about the kickstarter campaign taking to an "epic level"

I'd say they're aiming to equal or surpass the older games.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they have a lot of the story and design for a new Tex Murphy game before they decided to make overseer a remake of Means streets? Maybe they will try and make that game now.

Was it really? I've never played Mean Streets before, and I haven't read up much on it.
Yes that was the intention. I'm in, just to see the story come to a conclusion. Loved all the games.
