undeadcow: Has it been decided how many game copies and which games will be in play?

Edit: I assume this is final...

wpegg: Shadowrun Returns
Moebius
Harvester
SIN Gold
Broken Age
Memoria
Arx Fatalis
Steamworld Dig

I'm a bit concerned it's about twice as much as this usually costs, but I'm more interested that people really will play the game. So, what's the verdict, are people up for this list?

undeadcow:
Yes, that's the list

...actually, thats a point... I didnt post any game suggestions as I'm merely a backup player... so what (where) is the games list - or is that posted tomorrow as well!?!
Edit: ninja'd by king of ninja thread! O___o~ CREEPY!

So if I understand correctly, sometime tomorrow people will have to "register" on this thread for the game. Then each person gets a fraction of a game code as some kind of Poker hand? Then the players have to figure out who has a whole code? Is there a set time for the game or is it variable?

There's no set time limit, but I think I read elsewhere in this thread that it goes quickly - 2 hours give or take, but a lot happens in the first hour or so - in other words expect to be at or near your computer to be "competitive."

No-one has a whole code. You all have fractions of codes. Your game is to be the guy that puts the fractions codes together before anyone else (by trading).

So the game should start at 7 PM GMT this Friday, correct? So I think that should translate to about 3 PM Eastern Time and 12 PM Pacific Time.

So since it's fractions of a code, players are basically trading completely blind then? Will there be any clues?

Arcturus, keeping in mind this is my first go at this, from what I read you WILL know your codes. So you might get "Sin, part 2 1234" - this will be the second of four parts. Likewise others will know their games / order. What you WON'T know is if that code you just traded for is real or a ruse, until you either confirm it with wpegg (which you have a limited ability to do) or you get all four parts of a code and it either works... or doesn't ;)

(wpegg sorry if I'm stepping on toes to jump in and try to answer)

Ok, that makes a lot more sense! Thanks for the help!

Not at all, and please do clue people in. I'm likely offline until tomorrow, so if there are anymore queries I'd hope other players will help (nastiness begins a 7, help until then).

This sounds awesome and I truly can't wait to be here tomorrow! LMAO But given how I am, I couldn't lie to anyone to save my life. LOL I hate tricking people because it makes me feel awful. Even if I really did want a Game, I still couldn't lie. *hugs to you all* I know this will be fun and I hope to see you all tomorrow night for this fun and funny mess! XD

Wow, thank you so much again for not only holding such a unique and awesome giveaway but also for taking the time out to post an FAQ for us noobs of nastiness ;). It was extremely helpful and getting to learn the history of this giveaway and how it has been refined over time to reach its current state was really fascinating. the icing on the cake was the suggested strategies post that you made which has given me insight on the nastiness that is in store. But, I am curious though how did you first come up with the concept of this giveaway because right now it just seems astonishing how well balanced it is with the rules currently defined.

I will most definitely be there and looking forward to all the craziness in store today, see y'all there. :)

wpegg: Q. I've got a fragment to the game I want, why on earth would I let anyone else know about it?

A. There is more than one copy of every fragment in play. I know which ones are being traded, because I know which ones are being validated. Someone else also has a copy of that fragment. It may be worth trading it and racing, than sitting on it and finding out everyone got it from the other person and doesn't need to trade for yours. If no-one is trading a particular fragment, I will just bleed it into the game by PM'ing it to a random person. This is to keep the game fluid, as otherwise it just becomes a stalemate. So trade!
This wasn't well regulated in the previous game, I remember one participant holding on the part of Zeus code forever. Then you probably just PMed it to someone else.

Anyway, I'm pleased that you stated the rules&tips and hope that people will follow then and not let nastiness overcome them more than it should. ;)
Love the idea of this giveaway. Sounds extremely fun. Unfortunately, I have a conflict and wouldn't be able to participate. Good luck to everyone!
so it's in 3 hours and 15 minutes right?
