Seeing there's some history buffs on GOG, and I think these photo's are just really cool, here's 36 photo's that are colored from history that look like they could've been taken yesterday:

I just hope they keep the originals, as those are more important than a colorized redo. But it's still really neat and amazing.
That is beyond fucking amazing! I can't thank you enough for that link and I can't wait to show my folks; they're going to shit.
Charlie Chaplin looks so different in color...
Amazing stuff!
Lincoln looks totally casual in that blue suit+red bow tie combo.
Oh yeah, I saw these on Facebok a while back - they're pretty cool
See, this is the sort of thing you Facebook haters miss out on! (depending on who your friends are - your mileage may vary)
Aye - seen these before myself.
If you want a good (sometimes weird) glimpse into history through photography, http://www.retronaut.com/ is really interesting.

Astounding work. They definitely add a contemporary feel to the images, which makes them more immediate. Naturally I too enjoy the originals, especially as I am a fan of B&W. But this is an interesting artistic approach that allows powerful images to speak out in yet another way.

This kinda brings justice to history, couse when you think about it people then saw the world like we see it today but only the black and white photos remain to tell the tale. Respect for the effort.

Especially without his Hitler 'stache. He kind of looks like that guy who played Scarecrow in Batman Begins.

I don't like this, by which I mean I do, because it seems a lot more real in color.

Great find. Thank you.
Very enjoyable.

I watched WW2 in HD on Netflix a while ago and for some reason, when something is in color and in HD, it just makes it more real, more understandable.

Wow. That stuff is amazing. O_O That's one epic find!

Edit: After looking at the websites of the people who colorized the pics I found more of this stuff:

They are very good , but as a point of interesting - not sure why they say it is "more real" in color, as this adds an artists perspective to the pictures. Surely the most realistic way to portray these pictures is to keep them in the original black and white. They may look more interesting and pleasing, but I am not sure about "real".

Anyway, it is a just a small note on realism in all kinds documentaries - be it photographs, pictures, books or animations.

Strange how the mind works, because to me (although I think those pics are amazing) the effect this has to me is completely opposite. I can´t really say why this is. We all know these pictures, most of them are iconic. And part of this iconic status is the lack of color, so maybe seeing these pictures in color makes them feel... profanatory and less real to me.

It lessens the feeling that something or someone is reaching out through time to me from an old b/w photo, in color the magic is gone and all that is left is a pic that someone could have taken with a mobile phone just yesterday. I really don´t know how to explain the effect this has on me better, sorry.

Like I said, most of those pictures are really well done, but I still prefer the original b/w or sepia.
