A few easy and difficult questions. You can win a GOG for 5.99 USD.
1. If you had won the game in real-life, Daikatana would never have been designed. Who was the designer and what was the game?
2. 502 years after the real Exploration, he became the title figure for the German version of this game. Who is he?
3. In the German version of another game, published in the same year as the one from the former question, you could go to Moscow but not to the United States. The English version featured the United States but not Moscow. In both versions, however, you had to become - with legal or illegal means - that kind of businessman that was the title of the English version. So what was the name of this game?
4. Sex and violence in videogames were a strong theme in the title of a video game series that won many awards. After all, the name-giving protagonist still is regarded as one of the coolest heroes, and lots of garbage and grabbage are to be found in the most popular part. What was his name in the first part of the series?
5. Another video game series got a TV spinoff of which one episode numbered 1x38 was banned in several countries, including India, UK, the United States, France, Singapore, Malaysia and China. An edited version was passed in the United States. What could have been seen in the six seconds that caused the ban, after all, caused many people to go to hospitals, some having seizures. What was the name of that videogame and TV series?
6. A financial crisis was caused in Japan by a Taito video game. What was the kind of the crisis and what video game led to it?
7. A lot of Silicon was used in videogames. Adding Synapse a game for PC and another platform was created that featured three rather old men. What was the name of the game by a company that would become very cold?
8. A famous game leads you from 1802 to 2000, through a first and Second Century. What is it's name?
9. The first part of the series the game from the question before is from was designed by one of the more famous video game creators. In 1990 he laid the foundation to another video game series, working for one of the most innovative companies that however had the half of its lifetime behind it. In 2003 the last studio of that company was closed. What company brought us so many classical and really good old games and what is the name of this famous video game designer?
10. Send me an e-mail with all the questions correctly solved and specify what game you want. Searching for my e-mail address on the forum is the annoying part of this quiz. :-)
Explanations and the winner will be posted here.

Spent so long on this and only got two!

prakaa: Spent so long on this and only got two!

I gave up in advance, seeing how many questions relate specifically to the German versions of games. Unless you speak German, it's pretty impossible to find information on those. So this quiz is probably only for Germans.

Ok, it was too nerdy. A few hints:
1. Backwards message
2. 502 years after the real Exploration. Also, what discovery was made around 500 years ago by an explorer? Or something more than 500 years, seeing we talk about old games.
3. You run the business model around a single kind of food.
4. The series is still alive - always bet...
5. The game series is one of the big franchises of a big videogame company.
6. The financial crisis was caused by the huge success of a game and it was not an economical crisis. I deliberately chose this misleading term. Also, this is the oldest game in this quiz.
7. The men are not very old in the game but the time from that the men come is long ago.
8. through a first and Second Century...
9. The last studio was closed several years after the downfall of the company. There were many masters...
10. Why should one post his e-mail address? You get what you give...
No more hints, now everything should be clear anyway...

Protoss: Sent my answers to you, and all 9 of em!!
Still a bit dodgy on 6, seeing as I added a game related to the American downfall

Sent a reply. ;-)
Fullquote is evil on long postings, by the way. :D
Ok, we have a winner. :-) Stop sending mails.
Solutions and details:
1. John Romero and Doom 2
The man who would later become the designer of Daikatana hid a backwards message in the Icon of Sin level in Doom 2, telling you "To win the game you must kill me, John Romero". Here's a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=he6ADh-za2Y
2. Christoph Kolumbus
The game Exploration, in Germany known as Christoph Kolumbus, was released in 1994 and did not really center around the discovery of America. However, Kolumbus did the real exploration - even though it is still hard to say if America was known before, for example by the vikings who went to it.
3. Pizza Tycoon
Of course, unless you explicitly know the game, you don't know about the cities, so everyone should have had a very hard time here. The ice cream in the game is not food, so the business model is only around pizza.
4. Duke Nukum
Here I wanted a correct name. Due to legal reasons the Duke was named Nukum in the first game - only with patch 2.0, though! However, later it changed to Nukem. The hint should have given it away for those who did really have a problem: Always bet... on Duke, of course! Oh, and Captain Planet and the Planeteers did not have the name Duke Nukem trademarked (by Ted Turner's TBS and DIC) so Apogee also was able to use the name. Of course, their Duke Nukem is more famous today.
5. Pokemon
Pokemon episode 1x38 - Electric Soldier Porygon - was banned in many countries due to being able to cause seizures. I would give a link to the Wikipedia website but seeing that many people would actually watch the video with the dangerous pictures that is there this is not such a good idea. Don't watch it - it's not interesting, but even made me a bit dizzy when I did - and I never had issues with videogames or anything, ignoring their photosensitivity warnings! Instead, here's the imdb link:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0761073/
Why the trivia there is "fun stuff" - I don't know...
6. Space Invaders
The financial crisis was that there were not enough Yen coins available for players, leading to a Yen shortage and a fourfold production of the coins. The game was Tomohiro Nishikado's biggest success. However, several years later the real financial crisis - the video game crash - only left the memories of this...
7. The Lost Vikings
Silicon & Synapse was the former name of Blizzard - and blizzards are really very cold. Also, vikings are very old. Although not those three.
8. Railroad Tycoon 2
The Second Century is the expansion for Railroad Tycoon 2
9. Sid Meier and MicroProse
Yes, it's a shame they were closed! Of course there were some masters like the Master of Magic, Master of Orion, Master of Orion 2...
10. :-)
Give a GOG, get a GOG - the thread with my e-mail address...
The winner is prakaa - obviously the only one to actually find my e-mail address. :-)
Waiting for him to choose a game he wants. Hope you all had fun. ;-)

I got the first one, and that's it. A little demented, though. Daikatana was bad, but not bad enough to kill him over!
1 is easy. But I see a winner has already been announced.
He wouldn't have survived long anyway.. being a head without a body and all....

Just as a small piece of info, that part wasn't put in there by John Romero and he didn't find out about it until almost the release of the game. I don't quite remember who did it but it was because of the way Romero was managing the project and getting on everyone's nerves.
I'll post the quote from "Masters of Doom" as soon as I find where it was.

It took me about 1and a half to two hours to complete. The Space Invaders and Pizza Tycoon qs were the hardest. The rest required common sense and google skills

Well, I was interested in this The Increbile Machine and Red Baron Pack promo. As good as both sound, i'll go for TIM, after hearing how good it is
If the promo's still not on by the time you get this, please surprise me from the following:
Constructor
Gabriel Knight
Giants: Citizen Kabuto
Once again, thanks again protoss!! An excellent idea for a comp, and an extermly challenging one too!

Ok, I sent a mail but here again:
The promo sadly doesn't work for gifting, so you must get it yourself. I gave you Giants instead. ;-)
Now have fun (and check the Giants forum for Mods that enhance the game).
And I told you, some questions are difficult...
Oops, now seeing I made a mistake at question 4 -> the words "the title of" must be removed. Glad you still solved it. :-)
