Soyeong: The primary purpose of the crusades was not to spread Christianity. There were a number of unchristian things that happen in the name of Christianity which were unfortunate, but the fact remains that Europe would have been overtaken by Muslims if they had not happened.

Still, I'm looking for a source to back up his claim that early Christianity was spread by the sword, so I'm looking for something that predates the Crusades by at least 1000 years.

pimpmonkey2382: The northern europeans (vikings, etc) were forced conversions on threats of death.
Yep. The Christian Vikings battled the Vikings who still worshiped their real gods. Unfortunately, the Christian Vikings won because they outnumbered the other Vikings and were backed up by most of Europe.

Soyeong: Again, that happen after Christianity became established as the official religion of the Roman Empire. I'm talking about the inception of Christianity, not something that took place hundreds of years later.
You just said early christianity. You didn't specify which, even then it doesn't matter crimes happened in the name of your religion. Trying to distance yourself and say they weren't being christianly is quite arrogant because how do you KNOW that your exact opinion is the correct one and everyone else is wrong?

All of Christian Europe overtaken by Muslim infidels...you must be joking. Islam had no chance of doing this. Good thing too, because the only religion worse than Christianity is Islam, born and bred in the middle ages, with all the values intact. Western Europe is currently finding out how insipid and destructive Islam is.

pimpmonkey2382: The fact that decomposition starts to happen very quickly, rendering the brain inoperable pretty much concludes that it's imposible.
Again, it is a mistake to say that something beyond our experience is impossible. The most we can say is that it's highly unlikely.

After the brain liquifies, it's impossible.

The Crusades happened because a Pope wanted Christians to take the "holy land" and kill all the non Christians.

Are you aware of what what started the Crusades or why they were fought?
Ya'll need Jesus.
Some people will just stick their heads deeper in the sand...

True. Most of the stuff in the bible is highly unlikely, some of it is true and some it is just 100% lies.

With no brain, and/or no heart resurrection is impossible.

I'm saying it is true that it is a mistake to say something beyond our experience is impossible. There was a time, I thought my ex girlfriend cheating on me and dumping me was impossible. It is better to label most of what is in the bible as highly unlikely.

Are you aware of why Islamic extremists blow people up today? Please do educate on how religion has moved on from this. You know, because religious folks are so enlightened and peaceful.

pimpmonkey2382: And the inquisition

and the new world "converting"
I don't know how to state it any more clearly, The Inquisition didn't happen until over 1000 years after the inception of Christianity. I'm beginning to think that you can't back up your claims.

You're the one (of a couple or few) who refused to examine any links I would give--refusing to look at anything you don't already agree with. So, yes, you are sticking your head deeper in the sand. Thank you for admitting it.
