kalirion: Well, he is kinda responsible for Adam & Eve getting tossed out of Heaven (assuming the Serpent is Satan). So in that sense, ever person who ever died :)

Plus he's responsible for the eternal torture of the vast majority of human beings that ever lived, so that kinda trumps genocide. Of course he's pretty much doing it with God's blessing, perhaps even on God's orders, so ....

hedwards: You've seen what this "god" character thinks is fun behavior, don't you think it's more likely that hell is actually where all the fun stuff happens?
That's a popular view, but I doubt it. Heaven might be boring (eternal watching of The Sound of Music, etc), or maybe it's the equivalent of being on a constant Heroin high from being close to God or whatever. Either way, probably preferable to eternal suffering.

This reminds me of a certain SMBC thing I saw some time ago.

Seems odd to screen out a certain type of person, if the experience is like what you're screening out.
This is a very interesting thread and I've been following it. I have studied evolutionism and creationism which I feel had to start somewhere, thus I believe in God. I believe God is a good God and forgives all and everything. After all, Cain killed Abel and was forgiven and we all descend from Cain. I do not believe in Hell. The thought of decaying away in soil doesn't exactly appeal to me, altho those of the Mormon faith believe that the body rots, but the soul goes to Heaven to be born again.

Appealing to you, and being true are two different things. Going by the bible also isn't proof.
What's all this stuff about us baby eating atheists?

I'd bother responding to ThoRn directly, but all he's managed is a concise write up of almost every fundamentalist argument that my fellow atheists have crushed a thousand times before.

Unfortunately they never listen and they never learn, they have no wish to. This is how they get taken for a ride by the Hams and Hovinds of the world. Ignorance may be bliss, but it's a pitiable existence.

Really? I hadn't heard of that. I assumed Adam & Eve just had more kids afterwards.

Seth to be precise :)
And probably more.

I love how theists manage to make what is appealing to them as true. Nature doesn't actively appeal to anyone. You die, you decompose. The end.
Oh and where did Cain's (and Seths?) wife come from?

Seriously, how can incest be wrong, when that's apparently the only way the human race could continue after Adam & Eve (and Eve was basically Adam's female clone).

I blame all that early incest for our health problems. Look at all those oldest biblical figures - lived thousands of years, or close to a thousand, and then of course the continuous inbreeding caused the age expectancy to plummet...

I really hope that was a joke.

Yup...You're right. We really don't know. I wonder if we ever will.

If you can spot a flaw in my logic ;)

It was all basically taken with the assumption that Adam & Even were the only progenitors of the human race, and the biblical ages of people are true.

Oh and the whole inbreeding thing repeated with Noah.

Living thousands of years, is severly flawed..

Ok, just googled it and I was wrong - Adam lived to be only 930. Didn't even make it to 1000, the poor guy :(

Edit: http://www.gospelway.com/topics/bible/cain-wife.php there you go
