Elmofongo: Good f##king grief this is the most illogical movie I have ever seen:

It's basically every evangelical misconception/stereotype thrown into 1 movie. I like Kevin Sorbo and Dean Cain, but I couldn't watch this without facepalming at everything that's said and done. :P

Don't forget the film has a side plot about a Muslim father living in America abusing his daughter because she happens to be listening to Christian Bible passages and potentially thinking of converting to Christianity.

Theoclymenus: Oh dear, more clever-clever drivel from the GOG regulars.

It's such a shame because when they aren't busy licking one another's bottoms and playing to the crowd they can actually be quite entertaining and even semi-insightful.

So it's gang up on religion time again then is it ? Together with conflating all religions together and throwing in belief in aliens as well for good measure : lump it all together, why not ? No distinctions necessary really since anything which isn't science is just pure delusion. The ancient philosophers were just innocent babes : they would feel like such IDIOTS were they to be reincarnated now. "Why didn't we think of science ?" they might ask themselves. "Gosh, everything has advanced SO MUCH since we were around. I suddenly feel inadequate".

Honestly, some of you lot really need to have a fundamental rethink about pretty much everything.
And that is to not insult people who happens to enjoy this film? Or religious people for that matter so that in the end we can all promote tolerance to all?

I'm sorry, I like your posts, but I simply cannot abide this type of thread in which people gang up and snigger at religion, licking each others bottoms as they do so, as if they all know better. I don't think most people have much of an idea about what religion really is : they only seem to understand the political manifestations (distortions) of religion - and they judge it on the basis of that. You will, in the course of your life, meet many religious people who will give you cause to think again, I can promise you that. And I'm not even religious, in the sense that I don't call myself a Christian or a Muslim or whatever - but I have a respect for the DEPTH of religious thought.

I for one can totally dig and respect that, my issue with the trailer, and yes it is only a trailer, is that the movie seems to be mud slinging onto itself. I have had many philosophy teachers, some more direct than others, and so far none of them...NONE OF THEM....ever started a class by telling everyone they have to admit 'God is dead' or fail. I am an atheist but if I had a teacher do that I'd probably immediately drop the class but only after kicking him the nuts. Does the movie give us an excuse to bash religion? ABSOLUTELY NOT, but you can understand how someone in my shoes might view the movie as an attack on my beliefs just as you view some of the comments in here as attacks on others'.

I usually try my best to be as tolerant as possible in my ethics class I never look down on students who profess their faith when talking about topics such as abortion. And I happend to also admire my Spanish Litiriture professor who is clearly faithful, but also quite nice, without her I would never have happened to read Hamlet or even Dante's Divine Comady. And I don't completely hate religious people, if I did than I should hate Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg both of are Catholics and Jewish that I should not even watch their films. But sometimes I just facepalm hard when I see things like this movie and how wrong it is thats not hard not to call bullshit.
BTW and totally OT, but that Hercules series of his sucked.

You didn't have to go there. But now that you did I'm going to have to harm you now. :|

Xena was a good series. Hercules sucked.
@tinyE and Elmofongo

Fair enough fellas. I can certainly understand why people hate religious hypocrites and those who use religion merely to further their own, selfish ends. These people are not really religious anyway, they're just using religion as means to get their own way and they give religion a bad name. I haven't seen the film you linked so I couldn't comment.

Again just this sentence is enough to make me facepalm:

"Scienece supports (God's) exsitance, you know the truth!"

Its still not proven by science and the majority of scienetists are atheist and agnostic.

Speaking of movies, Pacific Rim is on tonight. Should I bother?

I watched Man of Steel last Saturday. SO close to being good and yet it was so bad.

I would have loved to be an extra in that movie so I could tell everyone I had a Pacific Rim job.

Yes. It's dumb and fun and dumb. And fun.

Saw Pacific Rim some months ago. It was bad, horri-bad. It was so bad that my friends and I started to randomly laugh at stuff because it was so bloody stupid.

Tiny example that shouldn't spoil anything. For much of the movie they're going at these 'things' boxing-style, then much later they figure out they could perhaps use this huge-ass SWORD they've had all along. Err, maybe use that earlier?!

I suppose it's kind of entertaining, though. Meh.
