I'm in. This is a game that I've actually been wanting for a long time now. Thank you!

To pick my favorite fictional world, I'd have to imagine which one I'd prefer to live in: I'd go with Rapture because it's very interesting in a dangerous sort of way, so as long as I get to use plasmids while living there. :)
IN for the game thank you kindly.

I would have to say a few different fictional worlds come to mind for different reasons.

First is the world of the witcher...which is awesome because when I am playing the games, every single young girl is
a. Hot
b. ready and willing for me.

Second is the world that J.K Rowling created for HP and his friends. This world is cool simply because I could you know, be a wizard.

Third and definitely less tongue in cheek and more serious would be middle earth, because JRRT developed the world in such a detailed way over a series of books.

and last is a world that you have never heard of because I have never finished writing...
Not in but thank you.

There is a real life Rapture, you know. It's called Somalia.

Not in but +1.
Not in, but thanks.
Thanks for your generosity, Tooms!

Very tempting, but best if I enter for someone else later. --> EDIT: please, count me in for RWarehall. ;)

One of my favorite fictional universes is (surprise! :D) Star Trek. To think some day human beings might forget their petty differences and try and be a force for the greater good is an inspiring ideal. :)

Another one is Warhammer 40k, for quite the opposite reasons. There's only war and all thought of human progress have been forgotten millenia ago. It's a quite appealing setting, on a strange way. :D

Yeah, I experienced a strong sensation of deja-vu while reading the rules. :D

Not in, but just in case nobody gives love to the StarCon2 universe, let me mention what I like so much about your avatar.

In Star Control 1 of course the Ur-Quan were the Big Bad(tm) leading the evil aliens that wanted to kill you, so you had to kill them first. It was a fun game, but there was honestly not a lot of plot. Along comes the second one, which is a damned masterpiece, and suddenly you have the two castes of Ur-Quan, and though it's unclear at first why some Ur-Quan are green (Kzer-Za), and some are black (Kohr-Ah), and though they all want to kill you, they also want to kill each other, the game builds up a significant back-story for them. I never felt bad blowing them apart (GIVE ME RUs!) but they go from "generic evil" to "fleshed-out evil"; and having a bad guy who you understand and can almost empathize with really helps make a game memorable.

Which Star Control 2 most certainly is.
Thanks for the giveaway! Two Worlds is a really cool, underrated game that needs more exposure.

I'd like to be in for djdarko.

My favourite fictional world is probably Morrowind. It was so unique and weird and alive, and engaging. I got a real connection with it. For example, I can still remember the feeling of heading back to Balmora after a long adventure, passing Fort Moonmoth and realising I was almost there, suddenly come to a small rise in the road, go over it, and there were the walls of the city! I'd run to it and instead of bothering with the gate, I'd just jump over the wall and head into the South Wall Cornerclub to unload all my loot.

I should probably replay it...it has been several years now :D.

My thoughts exactly! Also, my favorite game of all-time.
Not in but +1 :)
Thanks for this, it's very tempting. But still not in.

That's a very interesting question. I love fictional universes that are kinda fleshed out, with all the poiltics, ecosystems, and whatnot - worlds that would function out of their own without the "story" taking place.

It's hard to pick a favourite, so I name a few:

The world of Firefly/Serenity. An ingeniousmix of frontier romanticism and SF.

The "Dune" universe as created by Frank Herbert. A complete ecosystem of a planet with lots of politcal and philosopical strings attached.

Of course also JRR Tolkien's no, not just MIddle Earth - A whole mythic era (several indeed), epic like the Edda, revered like the Bible. Certainly one of the most infuential works of our time.

The Northern Kingdoms and the Nilfgaardian Empire as envisioned by Andrzej Sapkowski (how do you pronounce the first name?). A world filled with humour and melancholy. And hilarious "real world" references (attack on Fortress Gleivingen, anybody).

Star Trek (already mentioned), whoch gained a lot of depth with DS9.

The Buffyverse, where nobody of the protagonists is ever allowed to have normal relationship.

Tamriel, the world of the Elder Scrolls. Where you can read 400+ book about history, politics, cooking, fairytales, poetry and whatnot. And many of these books were written by people that were clearly insane.

Buffyverse where nobody of the protagonists is ever allowed to finally graduate from high school
I'm in.

So hard to choose a favorite.
An early favorite was "The Land" from the Thomas Covenant books. Probably because it was the most adult stories I had read to that point as a teen.
Also have to love the fictional universe of Douglas Adams. Got to love Pangalactic Gargleblasters.
But all in all, I'll have to agree with iphgix and place the world of the Witcher above the others. I like the gray areas, the realism as to prejudices and morality. There is no shining white light to attack the darkness. In fact very little light, and a lot of dark but not evil just to be evil. Although sometimes evil with self-motivation is worse.
Tempted, but not in - though as to fictional worlds I always liked China Mieville's New Crobuzon setting and the world of Bas Lag in general - a surreal drug tinged place where Giger-ish animal people, demonic feeling entities and poor twisted wretches modified by a fascist justice system collide. I cannot even begin to describe the scope of detail in it, but you my want to check out his book Perdido St. Station sometime.
