GOG, you should really do something, a little graphic that says "you can put your own amount here!" because hundreds of people have that problem.

I'm sure they don't mind that a lot of people who would only pay a penny give $0.99 because they don't notice that option. :P

BlueMooner: $2500 is the max limit.
I double-dog dare you to donate that much. =P

ashout: i couldn't find a thread about this topic, so i apologize if this is already in circulation: but i purchased the pay what you want (99 cents) bundle of games in the interplay giveaway, and i gotta tell you those 8 games are well worth the investment. except for shattered steel, that game is like pulling teeth. and kingdom works on win 7 for me, maybe not for you but it does for me. lots of intertainment hours in these gems! and evolva sucks.
Evolva is the best.

True, but quite a lot of people have a problem with "Beat the average", because they don't know they may just pay one penny over the average, not the whole dollar.
That's funny, many of the comments on the forum would have me believe that PWYW for 8 games, or $35 for 32 games is somehow a bad deal.

+1

Truly, I would guess that $1 just breaks even, considering bandwidth, power cost and server wear. If I were GOG, I wouldn't be in a hurry to point out how people can cost us even more money.

Not a prob. Should I use your card again under the Alquist alias, like last time? Hmmm, seems I've misplaced that info. Would you be a dear and tell me your card number again, with security code?

Gazoinks: It's a much better deal if you beat the average. I bought it for $12 and apparently saved $107. It has better games overall too, imo.
I keep thinking about doing that, but honestly, I already have the games i would want from that tier. except earthworm jim 3D.
avatar
BlueMooner: My only quibble with their game arrangement is why Descent 3 is part of the mid tier offer, but Descent 1+2 are part of the top tier offer. Wouldn't 3 be better than 1 or 2, and so should be offered at a higher tier? Seems odd to me.
people on this site are old school, and they like to buy the games they played as a kid. more people played descent 1 and 2 then three.

thats my guess.

I couldn't figure out where to go after you beat the dead guy on the first mission. the objective arrow keeps pointing where the dead guy is, is that a bug or something?

I have, had or don't want all of the games except those in the bottom tier, so it worked out for me.

I'm a bit anxious to play the first Bioware game (the mech one). It may suck, but it'll be like reading a video game history book.

I hope VR soccer works well for me b/c it might be nice to have a soccer game.

And I've never heard of MAX but people are raving about it in the reviews.

Honestly, I'd never have bought any of those games. But it'll be fun tinkering around with them periodically. And who knows, maybe I'll love one of them. That's how it was with Realms of Arkania. Free game turned into "Whoa. This game is awesome."

Of course it is, it's scandalous! Let me tell you, when I first joined GOG, they sent me a PM telling me I was their one millionth member and as such, I could get a "unique" deal: all 500 of their games for a dollar. A dollar?! Can you imagine?? A dollar!!!

I couldn't believe their effrontery in charging me more than a penny. I bet it's a lie they say to all their new members, thinking most suckers will fall for their greedy ruse. Well, let me tell you, I told them where they could stick their dollar!
(Honestly, 500 games for a dollar... companies are just so greedy!!)

/s
Is this one time thing or does GOG plan to have more PWYW deals in the future?

I think this was a great promo and look forward to more like this one.

i never would have bought any of these games individually, but the bundle price was too good to pass.

noncompliantgame: Great offer and no doubt there's some great games in there. But the gift thing for games you already own totally sucks. They should have substituted games from the next package. eg: if you own M.A.X + M.A.X 2 you get, say, Descent 3 instead (or whatever), you get the picture.
You know, people could easily farm this. Buy a entry pack for 0.99$ (or less), then immediately buy it again for the next tier of games free. And no, disabling this would only encourage people to try, then fail to exploit it, and eventually complain that it totally sucks.

LOL

GOG gives away free games and people bitch about it. They do bundles and people bitch about it. They have 60% off sales and people bitch about it.

Bitch, bitch, bitch. Seems to be the same instigators doing the bitching every time GOG announces something.

Fortunately the entitlement-fueled criticism has been quelled by reason.

:)
I'm guilty of buying this whole pack for a buck.

I dunno about you guys but I'm having so much fun with Screamer game. It's so nice to relieved my childhood and having fun time racing the fast cars. :DDD

Certainly not a one-time thing, seeing how it's the second time they've done it.
