Perhaps this is neither the time nor place but I was annoyed at the general ignorance mixed with a lack of compassion displayed in his original post.
I didn't twist your words, they are there as you wrote them, I just did put them in a different context which I think was useful for making a point.
Perhaps you, your friends or your family recently were laid off? If so you should not be blaming your current government for that.
Roberttitus: I don't need the news to tell me that if our own are in danger then we should protect them first & foremost... that is just common sense. You don't have to be afraid, the American government is more than big enough to do many things at once!
Roberttitus: I'm just saying that when some of our biggest cities are expected to be hit by the same Tsunami that hit Japan we should be more focused on saving the lives there & making sure that the majority (not all as Japan is more than welcome to SOME) of our resources go to helping those people & rebuiding our cities. Perhaps we do agree after all :-) I can assure you that Obama and his friends will just use some of their resources to help Japan.

And at least I still have roof over my head. Looking around today, I see a fair few houses around here that have lost their roofs. We got off lightly all things considered.
yeah the power outage will be "funny", tomorrow.
Our Place, Sumida is not yet on the roll list, hope it stays that way.
I hope you can finish your work.
so Good luck, and good night.

Has there been any word on the rumor of a partial meltdown?

Have you seen an official list of times, etc.? I can't access the TEPCO site at all. The servers are overloaded.
You'd probably be better off looking for an answer from someone outside of Japan. Rumor has it, the information being given domestically is being "controlled". I can't say whether that's true or the usual conspiracy theory/cover up reaction, but you never know.

Finally got access to the list:
なお、停電時間は表中の数字(グループ)をご覧ください。
第1グループ 6:20~10:00 16:50~20:30 / 第2グループ 9:20~13:00 18:20~22:00
第3グループ 12:20~16:00 / 第4グループ 13:50~17:30/ 第5グループ 15: 20~19:00
And checking the PDF for my prefecture puts us in groups 3 and 4. So that's pretty much the work day fucked for me =/ And apparently these blackouts will now last until the end of April and will likely be reinstated during the summer -- even when they have enough power =/
Of course, times are only a guideline and they cut the power whenever they want. Ugh.

I don't think my Chinese is good enough ;)
'course the other problems with these power cuts is that all our heating relies on electricity =/ And with bloody kita-kaze blowing, it gets fairly cold here, especially in the evenings.
