Hi All,
I am thinking of moving on to a 64bit OS and windows7 but am wondering, how compatible are GOG games with 64 bit operating systems ? and how compatible would they be with windows 7 ? anyone has experience with that ?
Obviously I would prefer not to use any virtualization solution, not even the virtual PC XP-mode that comes with windows7 if possible.
For me, moving to windows7 would only make sense if I go 64 bit. Otherwise I'll just stick with good old XP 32bit until it really really dies.
regards,
Shadi

I'm on Windows 7 64-bit right now and all my GOG games run on it perfectly fine. It just shows you how much GOG cares about the compatibility of their games. Also, for the record, all my other games work too.
I am using Windows 7 64 Bit RTM right now. And all games that I own from GOG.com are working fine on it. My Games are:
Fallout Series
CMR 2005
Redneck Rampage Collection
Freespace 1 and 2
Descent 3
Free Games like Teenagent vs...
Giants
Sacrifice
Shogo
So these games are working fine, other games are working too I think, because Windows 7's working system is similar to Windows Vista. :)
All GOG games work on 64-bit Win7. Not all games register themselves correctly in Games Explorer however, due to Win7 being more picky about how that process is done, that is being fixed one game at a time though.
Everything works. Period. Except 16-bit programs.

Which is a pain...
Using VIsta and 7 both in 64-bit edition on my PC.
A few gog games i've tested with vista and 7 (64-bit):
BASS
Descent I - III
Fallout I - II
Fallout Tactics
The Guild
Lure of the Tempress
MKD I - II
SpellForce
TeenAgent
no problems so far with any of these games. so i say it's save to update your OS.

It is. I don't understand why WOW16 had to be removed.

You should be good. 16-bit apps are the real problem, but GOG fix their releases so nothing should run 16-bit natively. I'm running Vista 64 and my games run smoothly.

In previous threads on this subject, GOG staff have stated that any incompatibilities with Windows 7 will be addressed. However, there is no published timetable for this that I know of. So I have no idea how long it will take any needed updates to manifest.
All GOG games run fine on 64 bit. That much you can take to the bank.
To hear Shogo working makes me a very happy gamer..
