I don't see what is the legal issue here, since the bundle sellers say that the keys are for personal use only and not to gift them... but there's not a legal rule about it. I always see that as an recommendation from the seller, and not as an illegal action.

I often give aways my keys if my brother doesn't want them, because, if I don't use them, then they will be wasted forever. I never thought on sell them, because that would be wrong. And to trade them, that could be very hard, since they are small games with few value.

So the issue here, do we have to do what the bundle sellers told us as a recommendation and to waste the keys if we have the game, or risk it and just give it to a friend who could enjoy it...

ZYZKryten: I don't have a problem giving the codes away.
I know there is no legal issue.

But if there is a consensus around here that would rather they were not given then no problem I know somwhere else they can go.

Lemme know if you want them or not :)

Fake_Sketch: GO AWAY, WE DON'T WANT YOUR KIND HERE
(Unless you have WH40K Dawn of war 2, terraria, HiB5 or FTL).
You're one of good taste, but goodness me, Terraria? Did you miss the thousand something sales? I felt like a crook getting it even full price with the quality of entertainment it delivers.

They're not wasted if you don't request them, you know. And trust goes both ways - you want retailers to trust you and not put DRM on their games, that's reasonable. But if retailer says he doesn't want you to spread the keys and you do so anyway, well then you're abusing the retailer's trust (and comfirming that DRM would be a good choice, just by the way. Because they could just sell Steam keys.)

This way, you're basically saying "Oh yeah, I want DRM-free games and I want convenience of Steam keys with them, just in case. Wait, there's responsibility on my part to keep my part of the agreement? Oh please!"

My personal stance is that it's okay to give away the code for a game you don't want, provided that you don't give away the steam key while still using the desura key (or DRM free). You also shouldn't give away both the steam key and the desura key (at least not to separate people). But that's just my personal opinion of it, the "correct" thing to do would be to not give any keys away at all.

Fenixp: What I do find unethical tho is buying a bunch of bundles and then giving out (and even worse, trading) Steam/Desura codes from them. Why? Because you buy one copy of every game there and this way, you're effectively multiplying some of them even by three. That's illegal for one, since those codes are there for convenience only, and out of these two ways of illegaly obtaining a copy, pirating is the lesser evil since it doesn't cost bandwitch to the distributors. I know you're trying to be nice and I'd actually approve if you paid 3x the average price for every bundle (wouldn't make it legal, but at least ethical,) but hey, who am I to be pedantic.
I'm sure HIB, IGS, IndiGala or IndiRoyal or whatever else could come up with a forced e-mail solution like, only one email so you need to register on their site as well as Desura, GOG, Steam, GG? to receive the keys then the keys won't work for anywhere else but anything related to this sort of system is probably going to cost more money than it's worth, the best part about indieplatforms is the easy going nature they offer (e.g DRM-free plus keys) not to mention the potential that people can trade and gift with others is a good mini-marketing or something one could call it.

I wonder though, locking e-mails to keys could potentially work but I assume that would count as some kind of DRM in the end so I guess it's a risky bet on their part.

It's weird that this even is an issue as long as people don't sell the keys since anyone trying to scam people to more keys or such could just pirate the game anyway, much less hassle and probably a lot less riskier too.
Wow, 50 games! o_0
That's quite an impressive amount you've managed to accrue over time.
+1 for the generous giveaway, I'll be keeping my eyes figuratively glued to this thread ^^.
I'll probably be offline for when this happens, but thanks and +1 for the giveaway, ZYZKryten!

Also, a little promotion to it:

Its not hard to do. I sorted my steam keys about a month ago and came up with 40. I've bought several more bundles since then and need to add those to my list too X_X.

Also +1 to the OP.
I don't use gamersgate anymore but I just had alook at my account and I have 26 unused gifts there. So Ill add them to the pile.
Want them to go to a good home.

There already seems to be a minor version of this in place.

I had a Desura account before the first Indie Royale came out, and I used that e-mail for where it asks to mail your receipt. After buying a few bundles I reinstalled Desura to register the keys and they were already activated on my account. I don't remember doing that, so I assumed any bundles you bought with an e-mail address that was already registered went ahead and put it on your account automatically.

I didn't have a problem with it as I was going to put the games on there anyways, but anyone getting the bundles for the sole purpose of trading it later on might have problems.

Now those I'm really interested in. I don't use Steam or Desura, so trading them is all I can do, but I do use GG :D
I had to chuckle when I read the title and thought "A giveaway to seniors?" I bet that would limit people here... being 50+ years old... or games older than 50 years old :-p

I'm interested to see what you end up offering. There area few things I wouldn't mind, but I'd rather everyone else get the rest. Thank you for being kind and willing to offer up the extra things you aren't using.

+1
giveaway is scheduled to start just in time for the hurricane to land... :P
