My grandfather was Russian
My grandmother was Irish.
However, My wife is the first of her family to emigrate here from Finland.
I do not yet know of any ancestors of mine, who are of foreign descent.
On the other hand I've been told that some of my father's family migrated to the US generations back though.
I know that my mom's dad's ancestors would have came from Germany. My father's side came from Great Britain.
I'm in.

Nothing spectacular here, to be honest. My grandpa on father's line, God rest his soul, was from Ukraine, and so was my grandma, his wife.
My father came here to study and here he met my mother.
I came after that. :D
I am probably sixth or seventh generation on my mother's side

this post just made me 400

Both of my parents' ancestors were from China, most likely Southern China. I don't know when did my ancestors came here, but that's definitely more than a century ago.

I bear the same surname as the emperors of the Han dynasty of ancient China, which some say was the greatest dynasty :p.

This is a very interesting topic, kinda reading history, which I like. Thanks for bringing this up and for the giveaway, Telika. It's nice to know something about you, fellow GOGers. :)
Damn. So close. 6 rep away. :/

EDIT: My rep went up when I posted this. xD

Oh...shit. I read the 400 rep frontier thing and it's in the title...and I'm tired. >.>

In that case...I'm in.

I can't remember which generation my closest "foreign ancestor" is from. I can't remember if it's my grandparents or my great grandparents.

All I remember is that there's a story that my one grandfather was in a German POW camp for a large portion of World War II and, on the day he was to be executed, the Germans showed up, handed the POWs their guns and said that the war was over. I can't remember if he lived in Europe at that point or America.

Migrating BUMP
Both my parents families are from Italy. I'm actually an Italian citizen also. I'm not very sure witch closest ancestor of mine is Italian, though. My sister, on the other hand, is living in Italy with her soon to be husband, an Italian himself.
My dad is from Aruba and my mom is Canadian.. So, my brother and I are the first members of our family to be born in the USA. I still have plenty of family in Aruba and Canada..

Now, I can trace my Aruban heritage back to an European migration around the turn of the century,. Past that, it gets a little foggy.
