Chevve: I took such great care of my DS Lite, and now it's broken. I even gave it a name.
RIP, Fred.
Man, i feel the same about my PSP. My PSP is the first model, the Phat one that came with 1.50 version, which could be easily hacked. I always took great care of it, like i do with all my console and games, everything i have still works fine. For some reason, a few months ago, the D PAD started to bother me a lot, it became a bit unresponsive. I had to press it strongly all the way down for it to recognize the input. That was annoying. Then i took it to a store that repairs consoles. And they totally fucked my PSP up, they fixed the D PAD, but now i have a greater problem on the analog stick AND they fucked up my screen too, its full of scratches that cant be removed, although that isnt a major problem, you cant actually see the scratches unless the screen is dark. RIP, Fred.
But the analog stick is totally screwed up. When im playing a game like GTA Liberty City Stories, for example, i can move my character around just fine, but he doesnt stop even when analog stick gets back to the center. He keeps walking even though im not pressing the analog stick anymore. They even replaced the analog stick with a brand new one, but that didnt fix it too.
Now that fucking store has shut down (wonder why) and i cant get to them to complain anymore. I took it to another repair store, the guy there at least looks professional. However he replaced the analog stick again and still he couldnt fix the problem. He doesnt know why this is happening.
Now im left with a screwed up PSP and possibly no way to fix it. Ill probably have to buy a new one. I have quite a few games not available on PSN, so PSVita wouldnt fix the problem for me.

Runehamster: Not to hijack the thread or anything, but I really want to be able to play Monster Hunter again
MHFU is one of my most played games ever, in terms of total hours spent. It was my sole justification for replacing my PSP after the first one died. Back on topic: You really can't compare the two, they are completely different. Get both :)

Neither. Iphone/Android is the correct answer. Dedicated proprietary portable game systems are as dead as dedicated MP3 players. Really? Are you tired of being able to subsidize ridiculously overpriced game prices by selling your game later?

Once they start selling/putting games I am interested on, don't see why not (Iphone already has/will have a FFTactics port, so that there is pretty good/interesting), but so far, nah. Also, virtual keyboard/buttons are not as good/responsive as regular buttons and analog sticks in my (rather limited) experience with such devices.

There aren't many games that I'm interested in on the iPhone, and I already have a phone + MP3 player from ages ago that suits my needs. Sorry. ;o

I'm a troll for highlighting an obvious market trend? Who wants 3 hours of gimped console sryle gaming on the go? Mobile-designed games are the future, whether you like it or not. Plus, if I can't resell my games, I would rather pay mobile prices that I can't recoup than console prices.

I'm sorry that you played terrible console ports. There are plenty of great games designed solely for the DS/3DS/PSP that are fantastic. If you want console-style games, go get a console. And what's this about not being able to resell your games? The only digital-download games are old PSP games on the PSN (which are usually $10 - $20. No where near the $60 console price), or super cheap DSiware games that are similar to your coveted "mobile-designed games".
I don't know why I'm taking the bait. =/

Is that with or without the 3d? I'm curious as I've heard that the main downside to the 3Ds is the battery life. Personally, I was quite impressed with what I saw when I tried out a demo unit a while back.

You should see the two posts in a row that he made in the WiiU thread.
Anjohl, it's not necessarily what you say that makes people call you a troll, but your way of saying it.
I get about 5 hours too and never turn the 3D off. I leave the wireless on most of the time too.

HGiles: I have a 3DS and I love it. The battery life is definitely short, but it's not that bad, especially if you leave the wireless off. I usually get 5-ish hours without needing to plug in.
The 3DS-specific games lineup isn't great yet, but it's getting better.
