hedwards: Eh, I wish people would stop badmouthing the game. I get that it's cool to hate on DNF because that's what all the cool kids are doing, but it's a fun game, there's some really cool sequences in it.

Neobr10: I couldn't agree more. Most people who badmouth DNF haven't even played it. It's a pretty fun game overall, at least for the SP campaign. Oh, and that DLC "The Doctor Who Cloned Me" is fucking amazing, one of the best things i have played this year (i have just played it this weekend). Too bad that it's kind of short, but since it's just a DLC i guess i can't complain. The Doctor who cloned me has some hilarious jokes.

"I have balls, balls, balls, uh, balls of steel".

Honestly, i had more fun with DNF than with Bioshock's bland and boring campaign.
It's definitely a divisive game. But I really do question anybody who claims to hate DNF and like DN3D. I'm really suspicious because DNF has all the same humor, it does lack somewhat in terms of space and being far more linear than it's predecessor. But, you get to drive around in a toy car, so I forgive that.

The only reason I'm not playing right now is that the game doesn't run on the laptop I have with me.

It has a main character called Duke that is voiced Jon St. John, that for me the only thing it has in common with D3D, all the rest is awful, awful as a D3D sequel, awful as a 2000 FPS and awful as a 2011 FPS. (IMHO again of course)

I don't think DNF is a horrible game - it's just not that great because of one big reason (used to be two): linearity. It's so heavily scripted and linear (and poorly done as well) that it doesn't feel like I'm walking around a world but rather in a corridor. D3D was about exploration: you had a city or a street and you could walk around to look at what areas you could enter. DNF removes all that and gives you, more or less, a single line.

Some parts are a bit more free and open, but in general, it suffers from the same cruddy console FPS sickness as COD and many others: being linear kills re-playability.

At least they got rid of the pathetic 2 weapon limit. The idiot at Gearbox who didn't think that should be c hanged needs to get slapped - and don't get me started at 3D Realms for even CONSIDERING adding that! D3D was all about having a huge arsenal of ridiculous weapons. Why on EARTH would you then go "you know what would be fun? Taking away those weapons!" - it baffles me to see how clueless many devs are these days.
When it's anything 3D realms related, I wouldn't trust them a dollar to get me a carton of milk from store. Most likely I would get sour milk like substance 10 years after I sent them to store.

...and they won't be the ones delivering.
There's actually Duke Nukem related Kickstarer, though apparently even the die hard fans aren't that exited about it. It's some old Duke mobile game conversion to modern phones.

I could say much of the same. The game feels a bit too much like a rail shooter. I didn't expect much to begin with due to everything that had happened since the late 90s, but in the end I enjoyed it. I'm a little biased, though, being a Duke fan since 1991 or so.

Oh, and I guess I can join those who wonder why some Duke3D fans complain about the humour in DNF. Can't say I see much of a difference. If someone thinks DNF is more hardcore when it comes to sexual themes, I'd say it might simply reflect more on today's society.
