ZFR: Grrrr... I started playing Duke Nukem 2 and I felt there was something different about it from the game I remember. Then I realized it. He's wearing sunglasses!
The game I played back in school had Duke without them. Compare screenshots:
The game as I remember it:

Why why why would they do that? Does anyone know whether it was just added to the Anthology, or if this change was done some time ago already?
While I appreaciate the fact that the glasses have become somewhat of a Duke trademark, the reason I bought these game as mentioned earlier, was because I play them a lot as a kid. I DON'T want any revamped games.
And it makes me wonder if there are any other "improvements" they made to other games...
EDIT:
Grrrr they even made the change to the intro and all cutscenes :(
This was done back when the game was ported to mobile phones, and then the game was released on Steam, I guess as a port of the mobile version (I assume it's now a Windows program instead of running through DOSBox). They added Duke's portrait to the HUD because the info in the box was irrelevant for the phone version. I assume they added glasses as Duke's trademark, as you say. I guess they went with this version for the anthology for convenience and assumed that people would want the 'updated' version.
