you can turn every single one of your arguments the other way around and find the same problems with imperial

Something I don't dispute, but it always comes down to what your scale is. And for me imperial is a nicer scale when you relate it to humans. If you scale in liters, it's a pain in the ass turning it to gallons, and vice versa. Meters, feet, ounce, gram, whatever. I just prefer feet to meters, inches to centimeters and millimeters, pounds to kilograms, and a cup to marginally less than a quarter liter. Anything that actually has serious implication though, metric is best and I'll use it every time, 6 years of science studies and mathematics does that to you. Everyone else in the world uses metric their whole lives, and hell, maybe they do have it down where they can estimate everything to within an accurate millimeter/centimeter. Maybe they'd have it easier doing some of these things in imperial, weight specifically (Mass in metric was also being used as weight when I last took physics, issue I have with that is weight is relative to gravity, where grams aren't, so that was something that threw me off). Maybe I'd have it easier learning both together and deciding to use metric for everything. I don't though, 300 million people don't. A minority we are but sometimes the dumb route is a nicer method, or at least that's how it is for me.

A gallon is 4 litres... oh you mean an american gallon (thats also something people forget to take into account calculating fuel prices)

I'm pretty certain that it hits quite a few people, I wasn't even aware there was anything aside from liters (And nano milli centi deca kilo so on) in metric. Another reason to say that schools are terrible at what they do. I guess to be fair though, nothing bigger than a liter pops up in high school chemistry, if that, and even my Diff. Eq keeps things in liters or US gallons..... At least I think they were US, they were used with lbs in those problems.

Theres a bunch of shorthand amounts and most imperial amounts have a metric equivalent (usually a round up to the nearest round number so rather than a pound you'll get 500g etc etc)
So getting back to PI day rather than patriotic defenses of standards and measurements ... since some of you hail from countries that use day/month/year in your day-to-day activities - do you celebrate PI day in July?

22/7/xxxx

Personally I celebrate it both times :)

22/7 isn't REALLY pi, but yeah, I'm holding out until then.

Only pie day for me (7/7 or 7/7, depending where you live).

true ... but it's just as close (actually closer) than just 3.14 - so it seems like a good excuse to eat pie to me! :)
