Hawk52: From my experience, the 360 doesn't exactly care how long it's been on. My back fan went out and the system would randomly crash anywhere between a few hours and minutes.

What I eventually did for a quick fix, was I placed the console down on the floor on top of a school book. That way it gets the coldest air. It only rarely overheats.

The only other solution is repairs or a new system I think.

Nroug7: I've got a rather large geography book - would that work?

iainmet: Mine completely died last week. Single red light and E74 error. Its out of the extended warranty now so it has to be a new one at somepoint.

I have opened it up, cleaned it all out and replaced the thermal paste, didnt work though. Guess I could dig my soldering iron out and redo the soldering on the Hana, GPU & CPU but it is such a mess about.

Nroug7: On more recent games i have played recently i have been getting the 2RLOD - speifically on Driver san francisco and RAGE. I am able to play a few hours before the xbox shuts down and becomes unplayable for an hour or so. other times, im able to play for 5 minutes before it shuts down, and when i took it somewhere else at one point it worked perfectly fine.

Now, i dont think an xbox overheats within 5 minutes of starting up, so does anyone know what the possible cause of the problem may be?

Nroug7: I prefer not to, anyways, i seem to have found the source of the problem and dealt with it after i took the oppurtunity to open the thing up (Anyone know if there's much profit to be found in repairing broken ones and selling them? Im actually interested now.)
