As some may know Twitter or other places (such as the odd post here ;)) 2K Games and I do not exactly get along thanks to the fuck up that was the Steam Mafia 2 release in Japan -- where in we were originally sold pre-orders for the English language version of the game with a release at the end of August 2010. What we eventually got was a barstardized Japanese language only version 8 months later at the beginning of April 2011.

Not to mention the pain in the arse that was eventually getting a retail copy to register on Steam.

Well, as part of this, 2K offered to send me some "swag" at the end of last year, which never arrived (and knowing how good the Japanese postal service is, they've delivered my mail to me even when the address has been 100% incorrect, I pretty doubt 2K ever actually sent anything).

And that to was something I mentioned to TheJoe on Twitter last month. Well, 2K once again said they'd send some "swag" and this time, they were true to their word.

The peace offering they sent was comprised of:

A disembodied Duke Nukem head which seems to like telling people that you can see his dick =/ and some weird foam thing with a DNF logo and grenade design (I assume it's for keeping drinks cool) [No idea how much those cost]

Next up were two Mafia 2 cufflinks, Mafia 2 money clip and Duke Nukem Forever bottle opener. [The bottle opener apparently goes for around $25, no idea about the cufflinks or money clip]

Then there's the rather strange Mafia 2 sticker thing. It's in 3 pieces, one of which has two holes. I have no idea what it's for =/ [Can't find a price either as I don't know what it is!]

The Mafia 2 Kidney flask and Zippo lighters are probably some of the better highlights of the pack. [Prices unknown]

Although the 2010 Mafia 2 calender is definitely the main highlight given that it appears to be signed.

There's also a DNF mini litho 6-pack of images that appear as pictures within the game. [Priced at $20]

A couple of DNF glasses [Priced at $8 and $15 respectively]

Then there's the Mafia 2 Surface 1030 Archetype mouse pad. [No idea of the cost]

And the DNF Alugraphics mouse pad [Priced at $50]

And to round that off, was a DNF T-shirt [Priced at $20]

I gotta say, that's almost enough to forgive them for Mafia 2, DNF and perhaps one more future release date jerk around. But I'd rather they just sort their act out.

The moral of the story, if something pisses you off, it's worth bitching about it on Twitter.
But did you get an English version of the game? :P

Yes. I bought a retail copy which I had to activate via a proxy.

That's an awful lot of stuff. I must say, I'm slightly curious as to what the inside of that calendar looks like :-D

I'll take some photos later, but it's fairly tame.

So not really Witcher 2 Playboy style, then. Too bad.
That's....beautiful....
Impressive. I'm surprised you got anything at all, but good job!

Nope. More in tune with the period in which Mafia 2 is set.

Ah, well I suppose that is better. It should be in alignment with the period.

Me too. They could have just said fuck you and not bothered with it at all. This is really surprising. Curiously, why do you think they replied? Was it because of your influence through Didimatic?

Also, how did they actually reply you? Through Twitter?

Didimatic has no influence. None at all. Nope, they replied (via Twitter and email) most likely because I was accusing them of fraud. I.e., fraudulently selling a product that they had no intention of releasing (I was informed several times by 2K that they had no plans to release the PC version in Japan) just so they could pocket the interest from the pre-order sales.
That was a lot of crap apart from the flask and zippo .
The zippo is really nice, should have pre-ordered it while I was in Japan... XD
Want the flask D:
