michaelleung: I wish I had a girl like yours then. If I had a P&P RPG fan as my significant other, I'd be really happy.

Long gone are the days when shagging was the major attraction in a girl eh? Now you just want one hwo can play RPG's?
I am sorry if I get a lot of negatives for this but that and the original post is some of the most worrying things i've ever read apart from UK_John's insane ramblings.
Nothing wrong with being less social than most, introversion, shyness or being antisocial isn't exactly a dangerous thing. Hell I'm 2 out of the 3 and I'm... well actually I'm messed up in most ways so I'm not exactly the ideal candidate for an example but when I can fight my nature and perform in a social setting, I'm told I do bloody well.
As for roleplaying with a girlfriend, it's good to have someone share your major interests AND they can role-play sex in the game too, far less chance of pregnancy...

Aliasalpha: It's a bloody hard language to try and learn isn't it?

Hell yes, but it sounds great if you ask me!

Keep your opinions on how other people wish to live there lives to yourself please. I don't remember asking for them. But if it makes YOU feel any better, ofcourse we go out. Not to bars and stuff, that isn't our thing (plus she has severe asthma) but restraunts, the movies etc. We're just looking into stuff we can do together. Good forbid actually doing something with a woman other then trying to shag her eh? I feel sorry for the women you date (Not nice is it?).

Heh. It's great sharing interests. Sharing geeky moments and stuff. Ofcourse it's great that we have differing tastes and interests too! Be dull if all our tastes were alike.

ilves: Most Finnish people speak English decently well, and I'd think you could find some people in the country to play. What part are you exactly?

Yeah I know but I hate not knowing the language and making people in their own country talk another language. We're in Seinäjoki.
I am looking into all the info given so thanks again, you're a great bunch :)
I am not the one vigorously defending myself! I don't really care but you have to bear in mind that this is a discussion forum and anything that you post is up for public scrutiny and anyone is allowed to post. If you would like someone to keep their opinions to themselves, don't post yours!
As I have said, I find it distrurbing what you wrote. Maybe if you were to read the post instead of assuming you may note that I did not levy any judgement.

Well I just re-read them and it sort of looked like you were jumping to pretty wild conclusions based on the statement that they're not incredibly social, the situation compounded by Barelyhomosapien's lack of skill in Finnish.
I can only speak for myself (introverted & antisocial by nature) but if I was aked to not only be social with people I didn't know but play a language heavy game with them when I didn't speak their language and mine was a second language to them, I'd be a bit on the uncomfortable side.
"not incredibly social" does not ALWAYS equal "keeping a basement love slave"

Thats nothing, you should try spending christmas with the extended family most of whom speak no english.

That's why they invented alcohol - to dull the sharp edge of panic when faced with having to spend time with in-laws or asking for a raise.

You should try and spend time with mine, they all DO speak english and it's still a nightmare... you could always assume that they're saying how great you are, its what I tend to do whenver I hear languages I don't understand. That or rapidly learn all the derogatory terms in Finnish so you can keep your ears open for them...
<Steers back towards topic island>They're not the type you'd want to play a 2 player RPG with then?</Steers back towards topic island>

Great now you got me thinking about setting up a campaign with demonic, gibberish speaking, pleasantly smiling in-laws that are trying to eat your soul....or something.

Here in Florida we don't have basements. Any tips on keeping a love slave in non-basement territories? :P

now that sounds like a really interesting storyline for an adventure of Hunter The Reckoning. The player has the life changing experience when out and comes home to find the family are really zombies...
@JudasIscariot: A rustic cabin in a secluded swamp somewhere? A bit cliche but it'd probably work.

We're practically neighbours then :) Only 50 km or so apart... unfortunately I can not point you to a local gaming group since my contacts in Seinäjoki are mainly relatives (and I'm pretty sure they do not play RPGs).
It might be a tough place to find a third player.... being a small town and all... and even tougher to find a group that would agree to play in English... but not impossible.
And nothing wrong in playing by yourselves either. Good luck finding a game you both like. Hopefully our suggestions point you to the right direction.
