michaelleung: Isn't like, every action shooter made in the past year or two a Gears clone?

Gears of War was itself a more actiony version of an RE4 clone. So... suck on that.

And um, RE4 was a clone of some game that escapes me at the moment.

Tomb Raider? Except of a really hot atheletic agile chick with twin pistols, you get this really metrosexual douchebag who has to stand completely still to fire his pea shooter.

I've always thought that Gears was somehow homoerotic in some way.

It's okay, you're still at a very sexually confused stage of your life.

Gee, thanks.

There's definitely something about it. It's so sickeningly desperate to be macho. "Grr, aren't we tough manly men". Gimme a break.
I wish I could believe the attached image was tongue-in-cheek, but I get the impression he has that it blown up and attached to his ceiling as a masturbatory aid.

Screenshots look decent although are nothing spectacular, but regardless of how many screenshots they release it says nothing of how the game will play. I'll wait for a demo or a fair number of reviews before I pass judgment.
I want a skul-gunn in the prequel....nothing more nothing less will do.

Yeah, it pretty much straddles that whole tongue-in-cheek self referential campiness and overcompensating for lack of real manhood, but it depends on your perspective. I just accept the whole stupidity of it the way I take the misogyny that Duke Nukem 3D offers. It's all good stupid fun if the game plays well and looks pretty enough. Is this any different from the juvenile days of Contra and Doom?
Except Duke was UNDEINABLY sexist. Sometimes I think the guys from Gears may just get it on...

ElPixelIlustre: I hope Deus Ex 3 shuts lot of mouths.

I hope it shuts mine too, but recently disclosed info doesn't make me anymore hopeful
I love the second screen, I hope they keep with a style like that. It looks new and fresh.
Well, the original Deus Ex proudly stands as one of my favorite games ever, and I also seem to be one of the few people who actually liked IW (yes, i played the original first).
So far, however, I've been fighting to remain optimistic about the series' future. Just about everything I've heard the devs talk about has brought out the cynic in me. Still I'm holding out hope for another great entry, I'm just not holding my breath.
As for the shots, nothing there really strikes me as anything special, but then again the original DX environments weren't anything to write home about either.
On a side note, how much longer do we have to wait before gaming outgrows the mandatory sewer level?

fuNGoo: I love the optimism on these boards. It's two measly screenshots that likely will not be representative of what will be in the final game. It's more of a showcase of what tech the game is running on than anything.
Anyway, I couldn't finish the first Deus Ex because I just couldn't get immersed in the sub par graphical representation of the environments and characters. This new one looks all shiny and current gen-ish. If they keep with the game design philosophy of the first game, this should be interesting.

You've missed out on a truly great game because of it.
