penumbren: Is Kronos a sequel to Battle Isle? It sort of sounds like it's related but it's not shown as part of the series.
It's a successor. In the same vein, and I believe with a number of the original Battle Isle folks involved. So it's very much a modern Battle Isle game. The quality does vary for those kinds of games. I love Homeworld, like O.R.B. (why is that never in these sales?), and am somewhat indifferent to Nexus. We'll see how TLF stands up when I get to it.

"2014 DRM-Free Winter Sale Mutual Admiration Thread"
Yes, that's a joke, but the people who frequent these tracker threads also deserve it. ;-)
Especially the ones who survive on caffeine, little naps and who knows what else just to track them.
These sales would be boring, lackluster and unattended by me without them.
Thanks, and happy holidays to you all! ;)
There, got that holiday card out on time at least. ;-)

I like that. Infinitely more eloquent than what comes to mind for me - Yes, that's a joke, but the people who frequent these tracker threads also deserve it. ;-)

You people don't suck. Lots of people in this world do, but you don't.
You're actually pleasant to be around, which is a frigging rarity.
That's all you get. Happy end of the year blah-blah-whatever. ;)

I don't really buy much in the sales, but I love following them in the tracker threads. It's always funny and it restores my faith in humanity a little to see all the random generosity.
Keep up the good work everyone! :D

Accepted, with major thanks :) I'll be seeing if it can run on my notebook tomorrow (fingers crossed that it will, and add another game I can hunker down with at the in-laws).

Every year he's here collecting for charity - and this as well as getting everything ready for Christmas Eve...
I wish I had his energy!
Nice thoroughbred reindeer, don't you think?

Very festive. I went to Walmart the other day and the Salvation Army lady was killing time on her cell phone. -laughs-http://www.fromestandard.co.uk/Santa-festive-tour/story-24762310-detail/story.html

Cognition just keeps calling to me: "buy me! buy me!"
I keep saying "I already own half of you on Desura"
Cognition keeps on not listening, and calling, calling, calling...
Cognition keeps trying to remind me that I can the whole game cheaper here right now than a single chapter at Desura.

AgentBirdnest: I wanna talk about Terraria. Mainly - What the hell is it?
I've read descriptions and watched videos of this for years, and still can't figure out what it is.
Action/Adevnture/Managerial? What is that supposed to mean?
Everyone seems to love it. Is it any fun to play alone, or is it only really fun with other people?
At its heart, Terraria is a sandbox mining and crafting game. The tags on GOG are certainly not what I would have considered giving it, but then I suppose 'mining and crafting' is a little too niche to be a tag. I've read descriptions and watched videos of this for years, and still can't figure out what it is.
Action/Adevnture/Managerial? What is that supposed to mean?

You start off in a randomly-generated world with no armour and rubbish weapons. You need to craft new ones and build a shelter before night falls, else you'll be shredded by zombies. You're given free reign to venture out and explore, being mindful of new zones that appear with new and stronger monsters/enemies.
At its heart is the crafting system. You can mine up various ores to use to craft new weapons and armour. It is what I've seen people call a 'wiki game' which means that either you're willing to spend the patience checking with the guide what various things can be made with what, or keep a wiki guide nearby to check up on things.
I've found it fun to play alone, though you do have to have a willingness for repetitive tasks (mainly mining for ores). There's staggered progression in it so that most of the downtime between bosses is usually spent ensuring you have the best armour available.
It can take a few hours to really get into -- I bounced off it when I first bought it, finding it difficult and obtuse, but I dived back in a couple of months later with a wiki at hand. I'm at the point where I've got the three main bosses defeated and am working on defeating a fourth optional boss while I wait to take on the last main boss before the second (and much more difficult) half of the game.

CarrionCrow: Very festive. I went to Walmart the other day and the Salvation Army lady was killing time on her cell phone. -laughs-
Stilton: Ouch. I can't stand being there one nanosecond longer than I have to, and she chose to be there in order to get money for people in crappy situations. Also, to me it summed up the whole holiday thing quite nicely. -laughs-
Additional - I see how it is now, Stilton....
Out of consideration, I wasn't blindside gifting you, but now I see all that for what it truly was!
Your own setup tactic!
(Can't even get properly perturbed because I'd have done it myself if I'd thought of it first....)
Thank you. =)
