HeDanny: HoMM2 is a personal favorite. I had a 486 I held on to for far longer than was practical because I just liked playing that game on that machine. I don't know why that mattered, but it did. Sentimental malfunction of reality most like.

Far Cry was a lot of fun.
I miss my 486 DX 33... my first computer. I totally understand your point.
But M&M is not the same series than HOMM...
Personnaly I know the second but not the first !

No, it's not "only" shoot everything to death... there's an interesting storyline behind, exchanges with NPCs (conversations, trades...) ; but you must also run and fight for your life

Indeed, I am also the proud proprietor of a pastiche of playful, pleasurable pastimes.

By which I mean I also bought the D&D bundle back in the day. Worth it! And that was kind of my point. With so much awesome, how will I make time to play the other and (in my eye) less awesome games.

I have only ever played HoMM3. I remember a couple of afternoons in a friend's house, both of us sitting before his computer, taking turns. Telling each other how to play: "Dude recruit the gargoyles, you need them." The drawing of knives when you were told for the umpteenth time that genies sucked. Good times.

And as mentioned, HoMM and M&M are different series.

EDIT: OH NOES! I've been ninja gift'd what am I to do? No seriously, this is just... amazing.

As for fireworks and what-not? Think back to the first Insomnia. Lots of people thinking there was going to be a big finale, some grand closing thing, and when the last game finally sold, and the sliders were all gone, we got "This promotion has ended." -laughs-

Good morning Crow! Got about three hours of uninterrupted sleep, so yes, it was a good early morning.

Oh, how can I forget that? That screen did a great sale a big disservice, GOG surely lacks in the department of "big finales". ;-)
