CarrionCrow: Maybe it's just me, but I'd spend time making them cry, just because. They're already self-centered to the point of being toxic, so if they go bye-bye in a huff, too frigging bad. ;)
Absolutely, the problem is when the gamemaster just won't drop a cart loaded with rabid ogres on top of those particular players, because they're friends and he isn't willing to suffer through his whining afterwards. It happens.

I know such a toxic gamer, she is the reason I haven't played with a particular group of friends in years.

If you want to have fun?

Set up a game where they're the star. Make sure to put them out in front at all times, plenty of limelight to bask in. Make offhand comments about how you might've set up the scenario wrong in the face of her character's sheer magnificence. Puff up their ego. Make them feel invincible, all the way through.

And just when it becomes intolerable for everyone else? When all involved are ready to lose their minds and quit?

Drop the hammer and make sure her character fails. Right after she's been built up to the point that she feels she can handle anything solo. Make her fail, crush her spirit, and preferably kill her character dead as a doornail.

>=)

Might be the last game you have with her, but damn if it won't be fun for all involved by the end. (well...aside from her.)

Ixamyakxim: LOL - the one experience I could *maybe* compare to this is the Capra Demon is Dark Souls. Except it sounds like, from your description, that the only point of beating the "Capra Demon" in Escape Goat would be to face it again... and again... and again...
Oh, a Dark Souls reference. I'm in my fourth playthrough and still have achievements to unlock.

I actually never had to suffer through much frustration when facing against the Capra Demon. I try to mix things up, but almost all my characters tend to gravitate towards a Guts-like build. A heavy-hitting tank with a good shield can take on that goat monster without much difficulty.

It's the goddamn DOGS that made it freaking impossible.
Must depart for a while to run errands. (Frigging offline interfering with my clock-watching....)
Back in a bit. =)

CarrionCrow: Mage/shaman I can see. Melee mage would take some doing. (and possibly a troll or ork racial build so you don't have to dump as many points into body and strength right off the bat to keep them alive)
What? And have an actual optimal build? :O Blasphemy, i say! :P

Nay, worked fine enough really. Think i did pick a hybrid mage with a few melee points for the odd chance she got into close combat with enemies. For the most part i kept her in the back and used spells though. The only time i had any real trouble was the boss fight in the Asylum. Had to restart that fight once because my team got wiped. Tough bastard that minion he had. You know the one i'm talking about Carrion, right?

The original concept i had in mind was a hybrid mage/decker, but the game didn't allow me to make that (i think, been a while since i played it).

j0ekerr: And a honest discussion on the Shadowrun game?! I never played the pen&paper game, but I loved its setting, High-fantasy in a cyberpunk world? Hell yes.
The game looks very x-com to me, is that a good comparison?
I never played the P&P either. However i loved the high fantasy/cyberpunk setting too. That was the reason i picked it up in the first place. The story in the main campaign is a bit short and fairly linear, but other than that it was pretty decent, imo.

j0ekerr: Any minmaxers would be horrified at the mere notion of a non-specialized character.
I'm the opposite of those kind of people. I love making wacky and crazy concepts and see how they work out. (usually horrible, but some work surprisingly well) :D

Yeah, I really dislike the whole minmax idea. And how in some games it's the only way to make a character work.

I love ADOM because you can basically do what you want. I use to play mostly as a combat focused Dwarven druid (cause I love dwarves and druids), before I realised that magic based characters actually rocked when used correctly. But it wasn't actually half bad as a build and I usually did fairly well.
Not as well as playing a Trollish Healer born in the month of the candle though. Basically regenerated huge amounts of health really quickly, practically impossible to kill, added to Troll strength and toughness and their ability to safely eat the corpses of most things I think its the closest I've ever come to actually winning in ADOM.

I don't dislike minmaxing, i just find it fun to come up with crazy character concepts and builds.

What do ADOM stand for?

Ancient Domains of Mystery. Best roguelike ever :)

That's the newer version he's working on, but what I've seen of it so far (which was a while ago, and it seems to have come on a bit) it isn't as good as the old 1.1 version.

Muwahaha XD *rubs hands together gleefully* Sounds like just rewards to me! ;D

Yes those damn dogs! I think I was always able to quickly kill a dog (or maybe it was another random mob) right off the bat. But the second (or both if I couldn't get one right away) would ruin my day as I ducked the scythe. And I even was running sword and board! I think I eventually switched to that massive wooden tree trunk to finish guys off though.
Anything still alive?

Just about. Playing Terraria and keeping an eye on the forum.

OK. I'll just bump my backup list, then.

Thank you, General. ;)
Has the emulated version of Wings appeared in this sale at all? or just the remastered one?

*looks through CarrionCrows massive wishlist*
