Could it be something with his thyroid gland? That's why our cat needs to be treated. He started losing weight very quickly because his thyroid gland is overactive. And yes, good luck picking up our cat as well. He hates that, which makes getting him to take the medication that much harder. :P

It's one of the things they've checked for with his blood tests, but I don't think anything has shown up. But it's hard to tell because his bloods tend to be all over the place anyway from the steroids he takes.

The main worry is that it's the cancer coming back, but hopefully putting some weight back on is a good sign. We've cut back his diet to fairly simple stuff that he seems to be ok with, as he sometimes gets problems when eating certain foods.

Best wishes to your cat, I sympathyze a little. My family owned a great dane. He once managed to slice and shred open a large wound on his left upper arm. It didn't bleed but a large patch of skin had been literally torn off, and you could see the pinkish meat under it, tinted slightly orange by antiseptic, and you got a perfect view of all the tendons and strands of muscle.

I still cringe a little.

On an unrelated note, Google is reminding me of the centennial of a book of poetic prose, which is (supposedly) written for children, but which quotes 18th century french poets without context or references, in french.

Sorry for asking, but which book is that? Google shows nothing where I am (so I suppose it's a Google Spain thing) and I'm intrigued by the concept of a hipster (addmitedly) book in French for Spanish children! o_O
Plus, I'm actually fluent in French, so I can tell you what all this stuff actually said, if you want to... :-)
(Now that I think of it, the actual 18th century French poets are on the public domain by now, but I don't really have much knowledge on 18th century poesy, so I'd be interested to see which ones the book quotes...)

Oh, i'm really sorry adaliabooks.. :( I haven't had a cat in my life but i grew up with a lot of birds, mainly parrots... It's difficult when something goes wrong. The money of course is the least you think these times. The joy a pet brings, is above any money needed for it's care. Anyway, my best wishes to him!

Yeah, the first thing we suspected was that he had fought with one of the other cats and taken a scratch to the eye. But now it looks like it may not have been a scratch at all and it was just a blister.

But now that you mention it it reminds me of my first (and only) real experience of anime. We had taken a bus from our local Games Workshop in Dublin to Games Day, we left quite late anyway so by the time the ferry arrived in Hollyhead it was the middle of the night and there were still about 4 or 5 hours of driving to go. So being a bus load of war gaming nerds, someone had brought a tape/dvd of (I believe) The End of Evangelion. To this day all I remember is a scene (which seemed to last 5 minutes) of an eye being pierced by some kind of needle... As you can imagine in my sleep deprived state this was not a pleasant experience.

Well, according to wikipedia (http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platero_y_yo), this book wasn't supposed to be for children in the first place, but rather for adults, and it was the simple tone of the text that misguided people to think of it as a children's book. Considering this, then the book isn't really hipster, but rather the audience Jiménez had in mind was an adult audience most probably well versed in French, and that's why he probably didn't feel like translating the poem from French (plus, translating poesy is very hard). Just found a link for the book in Gutenberg project btw (https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/9980) and will try to find later the french poem to read it myself (I don't really know Spanish and used Google translate and my knowledge in french-which has some similiarities with Spanish- to read the wikipedia article I quoted). At any rate, thanks for giving me some new knowledge today! :-)
