IAmSinistar: Well, if you've never played Sonic, then you couldn't make the comparison. It's like not having read Lovecraft and thus saying "This Cthulhu stuff really reminds me of Clive Barker." :)

But it is very much directly descended from Sonic, with many sly nods and references back to its illustrious ancestor.

FoxySage: Funny you should say that since i haven't gotten around to read Lovecraft yet. :P

I can make the comparison to Jazz Jackrabbit though and from what i've heard on the internet it's a Sonic clone.
Heck, not just Clive Barker, a lot of early Stephen King was clearly influenced as well. I read just about everything he wrote.

RWarehall: Anyone for some sweet pidgeon loving?
avatar
FoxySage: From what i hear Carrion is really into that kind of stuff. ^_~
I'm into grabbing the worst games possible. As such, I couldn't leave that one behind. Damn sure wasn't going to pay full price for that level of pain. =)

ddickinson: You always have your writing. Have you ever considered pursuing that path? If you enjoy doing it, maybe that is something you could look into? Especially now that you can self publish much easier, at least digitally. It may not be a perfect path, but it would give you something to concentrate on and who knows, many people have made a success of it recently.

Ragnarblackmane: I don't want to derail this thread further so just going to reply via PM, as we've been chatting there since we discovered our mutual appreciation for All Things Awesome (Tolkien, Warhammer, and Dwarves, chiefly).
I don't know if you've looked into it / considered it before but: http://www.blacklibrary.com/Getting-Started/FAQ-Working-For-Black-Library.html

There submission window is actually open till the end of January, although there only looking for a very narrow selection of stuff.
Might be worth a shot anyway :)

Just two things: First I wish you luck with your work situation. And second this is no thread derailment, we are discussing almost everything so it is no problem to continue here (of course only if you want to and not keep it more private) ... Ah yes and Tolkien is awesome :D

Vythonaut: Thanks, I'll check it out. With this whole backup thing I'm trying to do, I find it difficult to keep track everything that's going on the last days.. and when I'm at work and have some free time, that android smartphone doesn't help either.. :-)
Perhaps it needs to watch those vids.... what were they called again? Smarter Every Day? ;-P

IAmSinistar: I was more worried by your description of it as a "fist game", but this additional comment cements my desire to avoid it. ;)

You silly spacecraft, that's just a typo! But seriously, the info from my additional comment is really not part of the story.
*poke*

It's been twenty minutes since anyone posted... I just wanted to make sure the world hasn't ended. ;)

I'm not sure this is a thread you can derail.... but on a more serious note, I'm certainly hoping things turn out well for you! I'm a realist, rather than an optimist, but I have found over the past decade or two that generally, something happens whenever things look tight and it gets better. For now, just accept good wishes and cyber-hugs. :)

(And yay, we're home! No more driving for me for a while - between the move from Montana to California and this trip up north to visit people, I'm discovering that my arthritis has developed into a spot where not only do I ache every single day, but driving for seven to ten hours means that I'm in pain for days. It was worth it to see the families, but... ouch.)

The Far Realm was influenced aswell. Never read Stephen King or Clive Barker. I plan to read Lovecraft though whenever i get the time for it.

^What Moonshine said. And i second the awesomeness of Tolkien. Can't say anything of Warhammer though, never caught my interest. And well, dwarves just aren't as awesome as gnomes and halflings. :P

No blasphemy here. Just telling the truth. ;-)
Dear GOG;
Please look at my wishlist and offer something GOOD that I DON'T ALREADY OWN.
Thank you very much. ;)
