donsanderson: It was really weird, no pee breaks or anything. I kinda feel like I'm in a 'fog' today though. ;)
He may be in hiding, I think the +1 thing may have embarrassed him a bit. ;)
Ha, that was just warming up! :-) He may be in hiding, I think the +1 thing may have embarrassed him a bit. ;)
And since when do Vikings get embarrassed? ;-P
Actually, a few peeps here started writing their very own story for their first game - just a few pages back, it's from last night. ;-)

ddickinson: Sorry to hear that Ragnar, I know they have been talking about cutting hours and such. When will you know if you keep your job? It's strange how so many companies seem to do this over the Christmas season, I know several people who lost their job during December. I hope everything will be okay.
It's life, you know? I've known it could happen for months, like the proverbial sword of damocles hanging over my head. In many ways, so many ways, I am better off than many in the world, and for that I am grateful. It won't be the first time I've been unemployed, though it will be the first time in several years and that is what concerns me, since jobs are scarce. I should've listened to my father's father's father's father and stuck with a trade like silversmithing or gem crafting.

You always have your writing. Have you ever considered pursuing that path? If you enjoy doing it, maybe that is something you could look into? Especially now that you can self publish much easier, at least digitally. It may not be a perfect path, but it would give you something to concentrate on and who knows, many people have made a success of it recently.I should've listened to my father's father's father's father and stuck with a trade like silversmithing or gem crafting.

FoxySage: This will probably sound like blasphemy to any hardcore Sonic fan but i have never played those games. Freedom Planet however reminds me a bit of when i played Jazz Jackrabbit on the Amiga back in the old days. Loved that game. It is probably my favourite platform game.
*Ducks to avoid the anger of Sonic fans everywhere*
IAmSinistar: Well, if you've never played Sonic, then you couldn't make the comparison. It's like not having read Lovecraft and thus saying "This Cthulhu stuff really reminds me of Clive Barker." :) *Ducks to avoid the anger of Sonic fans everywhere*
But it is very much directly descended from Sonic, with many sly nods and references back to its illustrious ancestor.
I can make the comparison to Jazz Jackrabbit though and from what i've heard on the internet it's a Sonic clone.

Yeah, things are tough these days. I should've listened to my father's father's father's father and stuck with a trade like silversmithing or gem crafting.
I'm self employed, we've got one big job before Christmas, and then pretty much nothing until around March. So I just have to hope it's a really good weekend and we make enough to keep us going (or we find something in January or February)
But we won't starve and we've got a roof over our heads, so I can't really complain.

Thanks, I'll check it out. With this whole backup thing I'm trying to do, I find it difficult to keep track everything that's going on the last days.. and when I'm at work and have some free time, that android smartphone doesn't help either.. :-)

Creative people, of which you are very much one, seldom have trouble finding employment. A very brief, very solid resume, with a creative paragraph stating "What I feel I can bring to your company" works very well. Spent many years hiring people and this is what impressed me the most. Best of luck to you. ;)

HypersomniacLive: Nah, it's pretty innocent - at least so far; If your eye caught something about gold showers, I assure you that it was not part of the game story. (~_^)
I was more worried by your description of it as a "fist game", but this additional comment cements my desire to avoid it. ;) A lot of games at that time were. Such as the infamous and only half correctly-titled game Awesome Possum.

I don't want to derail this thread further so just going to reply via PM, as we've been chatting there since we discovered our mutual appreciation for All Things Awesome (Tolkien, Warhammer, and Dwarves, chiefly). donsanderson: Creative people, of which you are very much one, seldom have trouble finding employment. Well that's very kind of you to say,and makes me feel a good deal better.Cheers to you:) Spent many years hiring people and this is what impressed me the most. Best of luck to you. ;)
I'll be honest; my scruples sometimes prevent me from finding employment at certain places but time presses and needs must, as they say.
