Stilton: The last hour+ here has been like one of those rare parties you go to where EVERYONE is happy and chatting until their jaws ache. People are making connections all over! The guys are in the kitchen talking sports and armpit farts, the girls are in groups looking wonderful and talking about everything the guys don't understand. And they're all enjoying themselves and knowing they're in the right place at the right time with the right people. Oh, to save this moment in time and put it in crystal. I'm embarrassing myself now - someone give me another drink...
<hands Stil a drink> So that's what I'm smelling? Damn boys - the girls can smell it over here. Why do you think we're giggling? :)

Perfect encapsulation of a night on GOG during a sale. I will admit that this sale structure sucks, but I can never fault the folks that show up. Cheers to all (should I be drinking before a final exam?)

Prost to all!

PaterAlf: I think +5 is the maximum for a day.

May I use this thread to rant about the game I'm playing at the moment?

It's Might and Magic II and as much as I love it (I already invested more than 100 hours I think), there's some stuff in it that's so completely idiotic that it's hard to believe. Stole some gold from a guy in a cavern (there was an inscription that warned me I would suffer if I do so). Checked my characters and everything seemed fine. Went back to a town, rested and after the rest every single stat of every single character was set down to five stats were between 50 and 75 before). And it's not temporarily, it's fucking PERMANENTLY!!! I mean WTF, I did ONE stupid action and the game punishes me with a Party that is WEAKER THAN AT THE BEGINNING???

Worst thing is that I saved, because the stats seemed fine and as the game has just one save slot, there's no way to restore my stats. No way except visiting every single cave with stats increasements again.

I swear, if I ever meet Jon van Caneghem, I will kick him in his balls!!!

*rant over*

Sorry for abusing this thread...
Thank you for that, I'm laughing so hard I have tears in my eyes! ;)

donsanderson: May I suggest that in view of his brilliant and amusing contributions to this forum that we commence +1'ing the shit out of our noble bards posts and see if we can't get him that second star by the end of this sale?
YEAH!

I completely understand... did the same thing back in the day. Think about it this way... in the 2000s, the big deal about gaming was to have your choices matter. MM2 did that earlier.

and yes, I restored.

I'll bring your comment back to the supposed actual topic (as if there is one -laughs-) and try to divert your rage at the game bullshit.
Have you at least been finding cool stuff during the sale to grab? Anything you're looking forward to trying out?

So *you're* the reason my rep's gone up! Cheers! :-D

Arinielle: Yeah...that's the problem. He doesn't like any of those. He likes micro-managing and tactic-type games while I like ones with lots of story and a world I can happily get lost in and do pretty much nothing and yet feel like I've accomplished so much because I like to wander around a lot.

We have our computers in the same room but at opposite ends of it. Own tables and all. So we 'can' play games together if we want to. He wants to get a console but I'm not too interested in Xbox 360 and Xbox One...and he isn't interested in Nintendo ( and has one request of not having a PS unless it's from say... second-hand stores or something. He wants no money going to Sony if at all possible ).

LynetteC: Have you tried Sacred? The character builds can get pretty complex if you want to invest that kind of time (I don't) but whilst the story line itself is pretty linear you can go anywI
I haven't played it yet, but it's on my list (and my list is long enough that I'd better live to be 180). I also haven't had the pleasure to date anyone who loves games (dammit!) Hell, I haven't had the pleasure to date someone I'd want to date twice... (shut it, CC).

But the game sounds fantastic - I just need to free up some time.

I've looked at Sacred and Sacred 2 ( my mom's boyfriend at the time played it a lot and they told me about it ). The hubby didn't seem very interested. We did both agree on that D&D bundle that's come up here a few times and I did end up getting it. He's played a few of the games in that bundle...and I think there's multiplayer in some of 'em. There's hope yet. We've just been kinda worried that WoW may have been the only game in common we'd have ( started playing WoW in middle of Burning Crusade and started it together because a mutual friend of ours suggested it while we were still in our dating phase and we were still living in different countries and wanted something we could still connect in ).

No problem. At least I know what NOT to do when I finally get round to playing M&M II. Thanks for that. :-)

What part of 'shut it' did you miss? Shhh... they're not supposed to know we're actually friends. Silly rabbit.

Thank you for the cookie. I'm feeling better right away.

Won't let the game win that easily. I already started to visit the caverns to get my stats back. It's a little hard, because of the weak characters and the fact that there are even more monsters now (because I'm on a higher level), but at least the game was friendly enough to not destroy my amor and equipment as well. I should probably say "Thank you!" for that.

Won't give up, I will beat this game!!!
