Well here I am!

Last night was a total loss - got in from work (late as per usual) had tea, put the mini-me to bed and sat down to watch the latest episode of Ripper Street. When it finished I logged on and the next thing I knew I was waking up at 3am!

I've passed the eating point tonight and the kiddiwink has just gone off to bed so let's see how long I last this evening! I'm not even going to attempt to catch up on the thread as there's more than 20 pages of posts - chatty lot, arent ya? I'm sure you'll all update me on the exciting parts. :-)

I *do* need to publicly thank our all seeing, big, blue eye for the sneaky Christmas gift I found lurking in my inbox this morning when I checked my tablet at work.

FearfulSymmetry: I've been fruitlessly trying to get my father to play some of my favourite RPGS. Unfortunately, he only wants to play old tactical games, and I hate those. It's really sad, because we have the exact same taste in lots of media, and I know he'd love the stories if he gave them a shot. I tried to get my mother into gaming as well, but she only wants to play the casual hidden object ones. I thought she might like point-and-click and introduced her to the Blackwell games, but she's put off by the pixel-style art.

At least I have my sister to game with. :P

FoxySage: The only games that my father has been interested in playing are the Settlers series (1-4). He was put off my 5. Last year i bought him Settlers 2 Gold Edition from gog so he could play that game again on the new PC.

Like me he is only really interested in playing singleplayer so was nice to see him happy about playing it again. :)
That's awesome! It's really great when you can share an experience like that. I'm glad my sister has mostly the same taste in games, at least. We love playing Saints Row together and just beating each other senseless with a club. (Yes, we have a very healthy relationship ... :P)

Hey there. =) Yeah, it's either talk or go nuts. Or talk while going nuts. One of those.

Stilton: Sure, I know that. It was more a reference to the playful back and forth we've had about blindsiding and getting in under the radar. Now, if my family were into all this stuff I'd be eager to spend more, but I'm something of a freak here. My better half isn't interested at all and my daughter likes MMOs and hardly notices anything older than last year, including me ;-)

Its a bit of a shame not being able to share something you really like with someone close to you - inside I get the feeling that in some ways the games would be even better that way. But I suppose you can't have everything how you want it. My girlfriend likes the Wii and so does my daughter, so we can at least have a family thing going with cone-shaped facsimiles of ourselves, which in its peculiar digital way is rather nice ;-)

penumbren: How are those? I've had the other two wishlisted for a while, thinking I'd pick them up on a good sale, but the discount on the new one has me eyeing it now.

CarrionCrow: Own all the others in the series, tried getting into them but failed to do so. Something about how they flowed was noticeably off. Made the gameplay less than stellar.
Hmm. Looks like I'll be adding it to my wishlist for now, then.

And we are done with our lunch break, so back in the car and on the road for us again. Once we're home tonight, I might be able to keep up with you guys… at least for a little bit. :)

Yeah it is. I don't often get to have that shared experience irl.

That sounds like a pretty normal and healthy sibling relationship to me. ;-) :P
Hi Lynette. Fancy singing something festive for us?

Another young, snot nosed, store manager left in a sobbing, quivering blob of jelly on the store floor. When will they EVER begin to understand that telling someone 3 times their age what's best for them is NOT a good idea? Bwahaahaahaa! ;)
Have to leave again for a bit, be right back. ;)

-laughs- Don made an eight year old cry! I'm starting to feel the joy of the season after all....;)
I don't have anyone to play with :(
Everyone in my family stopped playing video games in their teens. (Fortunately, I was never able to get out of my teens.)
I used to have some friends to play with, but they all went off and got jobs, family, and schooling... Morons...

My brother occasionally still likes to play some old NES games with me if we are both in a good mood - Baseball, Golf, and Contra. The latter two are still fun to this day :)

I bit more than 8 but at 6 feet and 230lbs I'm not exactly a shrimp either.
Idiot. ;)

I have for the most always prefered gaming alone. Only time i remember playing with someone else was when i completed Wolfenstein 3D with my father as a kid.

Wasn't untill Diablo 2/NwN 1 i began playing multiplayer online. Which was fun, but i still prefer playing singleplayer. Guess i'm a very asocial gamer for the most part. :P

Some people have no sense. Looking at things optimistically, maybe your encounter will stick in their mind and they'll attain wisdom.
Or at the very least, they'll learn that it's good to keep their mouth shut sometimes....
